I think a problem with this will be that it doesn't fit in with SF's brand. The idea of Scream Factory + Christopher Lee here is a setup for disappointment. I'm partial to it's low budget charms, but I think the average SF customer will be bored silly. AGFA would have been a better home for it. I don't know if it would've been any better received, but it would have at least given the potential customer a better idea of what to expect (and it probably would've been cheaper and come with a second or third feature). I can feel the secondhand value of this disc diminishing already.

Now wait until the next re-re-re-release when they announce they’ve found the deleted scene film-reels buried in a salt mine buried beneath another salt mine.

In this era, the opening credits of the film were not added digitally, they were the result of a physical process on top of the originally shot film. This process results in any footage with credits being one or more generations away from non-optical work footage, and thus the quality of that footage is lower.

The included Blu-ray with the new 4K scan looks fine though. The credits are badly compressed on the 4K disc, you can clearly see it during the shot of Robin and Cliff De Young on the plane up until they pull up to the house and go inside, the quality looks like a DVD, then once the dude shows up at the door with the snake, it looks normal.

I think it's mainly that Chucky titles still sell well enough for Universal where they'd rather keep them in house. Quote:
As far as the Halloween titles go, there's been nothing officially confirmed for the remaining films. SF does have access to Miramax titles through their deal with Paramount (see: Cursed), so if Paramount is licensing UHD rights out (I thought Criterion getting The Piano was proof, but I've been told Miramax no longer had those rights), then 6, H20 and Resurrection are pretty likely. The two Rob Zombie films are another matter. They're part of the Weinstein Company catalog, which was mostly acquired by Lionsgate, whom aren't big on licensing. However, it does look like SF have released at least one title from that catalog (Sin City: A Dame To Kill For), so if they grabbed the Zombie films at the same time, then MAYBE they'll be on the table. |

You think SF could possibly snag The Relic considering they've dabbled in Paramount titles before? Maybe even a 4k remaster?

"JAWS" ceased being an ongoing franchise with THE REVENGE in '87, and Universal STILL won't license out the sequels. They refuse to let a well known boutique label give them new the new scans they desperately need. I doubt Universal would ever consider releasing the sequels on 4K, so why not let Shout have them and share in the profits?
