A hard pass on the Rob Zombie Halloween movies...rather see them focus on some more classic horror stuff.

I’d imagine if they didn’t include it people would be pretty pissed. Hope the theatrical and producers cut get new 4K scans.

I would love a Busta Rhymes commentary for Resurrection.

The Rob Zombie Halloween Films, would be nice. I want those more than H6, H20, & Resurrection.

The fear is that like Lifefroce the theatrical cut will be the only one on 4K with the producer's cut only on Blu-ray. (or vice versa)

Hopefully Scream isn't stupid enough to do that but they have been stupid before.

It looked like my FYE was getting new stuff in but recently they haven’t received anything. They rearranged their movie stuff and most are now in the bargain bins.

So if a giant Chucky set comes out from Shout half of it will be an upscale.
Shout has never released Collectors editions and then gone back and released a box set. They have also never released a box set and then later offered the films as solo editions. Since Shout is releasing Child's Play 1-3 on 4k as standalones there will not be a boxset release. I'd wager that the odd's are good that in 2023 we'll get Bride and Seed in 4k however, in order to complete the theatrical films portion of the franchise.

They did release collectors editions of Halloween 2 and 3, then released them again as steelbooks with new scans, before they released the Halloween boxset.
Also they released Masque of the Red Death as a stand alone after it was already in the Vincent Price boxset, because the rerelease of the boxset had a remaster.

I just knew Halloween 6, H20, and Resurrection were coming when they announced Cursed. How could Scream Factory dip their hands in the Paramount/Miramax cookie jar without continuing their Halloween 4Ks? I wonder if Paramount will license Scream 2-3 since they seem completely uninterested in doing new scans of them, much less 4K releases.

Now the entire Halloween franchise will be on 4K except, oddly, the Rob Zombie movies. Unless Scream has those, which I doubt, especially since RZH2 is now with Lionsgate.

I'm only interested in upgrading if it includes the Producer's Cut. Is there any reason to think that it won't or can't happen?

I can't imagine them putting out a UHD Collector's Edition of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers and NOT including the Producer's Cut. Whether it'll also be in 4K remains to be seen but I'd be willing to place bets that the PC will be included.

Echoing what someone else said, the fear is that it will end up like Lifeforce, where they give you a UHD of the Theatrical Cut, but plain Blu-ray for the Producer's Cut.

At least in this case, both the theatrical and producer's cuts of Curse of Michael Myers are equally mediocre, whereas with Lifeforce, the DC is widely viewed as being superior to the theatrical cut.

Lifeforce has been a childhood favorite of mine, having seen it in theaters. It is a bonkers movie, in a good way. Acting is great, although Railsback is a little wonky. The cinematography, score, miniature work and special effects are excellent. The drained victims still look great.

A shame that they can’t seem to find the original 130 minute cut.

I can’t believe it’s rated at 58% on Rotten Tomatoes. I give it a 4/5.

I’m pretty positive the producer’s cut will be included (how could you NOT include it at this point?), and I guess it’s possible it will be in 4K. I’m just wondering what materials are available for it. Daniel Farrands said in an interview when the box set came out that it was sourced from a print being stored in Canada. On the Blu-ray, it looked much better than a “print,” and was most likely an interpositive of some kind. Either way, it’s probably not the original camera negative, so a 4K upgrade likely wouldn’t be a huge upgrade unless the shots they share from the theatrical cut (what the original camera negative is likely cut to) are mixed with shots unique to the producer’s cut.

As someone who doesn't hate Resurrection like most folks do, I would absolutely pick up another copy for that.

Out of the Dimension Halloween films, H20 is my favorite but only because it feels like a "genuine" legacy Halloween film even though it still feels very 90's. Well, they all do but 'H20' just feels more like canon and less dated IMO. H6 isn't a good film but I think the PC gives it a slight edge. It doesn't improve the film but it's an interesting alternate take and it's kinda hard to go back to the Theatrical after having watched the PC, which is why I'll only upgrade if the PC is included. And I actually enjoyed 'Resurrection' despite Busta Rhymes being in it. The kills in the film are nicely done and brutal. And I loved the "lair" aspect of it. So THAT'S where Michael hides in between Halloween films

I also enjoyed the first RZ Halloween film. Zombie took the concept and REALLY ran with it, giving it a gritty realism that made it feel grounded as opposed to a fantasy about a Boogeyman that comes out to wreak havoc once a year. I appreciated that part of it. Not a masterpiece by a long shot but still enjoyable.
