I always wondered what Michael Moriarty himself was dipping into, he always seems to be winging it in a cheerfully stoned manner.

Surprise announcement indeed! I wouldn't have imagined this title getting away from Blue Underground.

Alright, here's a "Double Feature" Blu-Ray I'd love to see: What are the odds of a Return of the Living Dead Part II / Return of the Living Dead 3 set?

Both are with Warner Brothers and Lionsgate respectively. I would like to see Return to Stepford get the Scream Factory treatment though.

Wow, that's a great cover! Who did that artwork? It looks like Boris Vallejo.

I remember watching "Q" a lot on VHS back in the eighties. It was another pre-CGI movie, like Dragonslayer, where you never quite get too see many shots of the actual monster like you would in today's movies.

Im really looking forward to that Vincent Price set more than anything at the moment...
I just want to point out that Jeff Nelson is not just 'the SF rep on FB'.

Jeff is just as important, if not more, as Cliff.

Jeff chooses the artwork, he decides what gifts to offer, runs the site, the facebook pages, he decides what format DVD or BD the titles will be, he picks if they will be Shout or Scream titles, and he works with the artists on the design of the packaging, covers, discs. He is the one who pushes having the original artwork on the reversible side. He also is the one who figures out whether to offer it as a combo pack, double feature, box set, etc. He is involved with every step of the process, as Cliff is only limited to the acquisitions of the films from studios, adn commenting on how he thinks certain things should be, Jeff has the final say. They are both essential, by Jeff is the one who gives us the finished product, right down tot he stickers on the slipcovers.

He is very important and has a passion for horror films. If you could hear him talk about them in his interviews, you would see that he is Cliff's equal in every way.

He thrives to please the fans, and it shows. Although he doesn't get hardly any recognition...

About "Q", there are a few ways they could have obtained it.

- They got it from Universal, who may be the current rights holder as they put out the last release on VHS, before BU's dvd. This would support the theory of their 2nd deal with Universal.

- They got it in the same deal they got 'Day of the Dead' and 'Kentucky Fried Movie' from, with Taurus. (I wish they would've grabbed DOFT2: Contagum, too)

- They made a direct deal with either Anchor Bay or Blue Underground.

So, Which would you say the case is?

I sent Blue Underground an email about this on April 2nd and if we could expect a future release. Here was my reply:

Blue Underground has no plans to release Q - THE WINGED SERPENT on Blu-ray. We do not currently hold the Blu-ray rights and the licensor did not have an acceptable HD master.

I guess they were telling me they don't hold the rights because Shout! had them or the person replying to my email had no clue what they were talking about.

I just want to point out I dont know who the "SF Rep" was and wasnt implying Jeff Nelson or anyone else...Im sure there are a few people behind the Scream logo

I hope some of my peers on here like 50s movies from MGM because Id like to encourage them to do some black and white films either under Shout or Scream banner..and could use some fellow members to push them.
There must be some fans who like The Monster that Challenged the World, The Man from Planet X, It the Terror from Beyond Space..

Amazon.ca is offering all the Scream factory titles for the cheapest I have seen anywhere (at least for Canadian buyers) right now. ImportCDs has been my to to site for the last 2 years for stuff and they still have some better deals (better in bulk to save on shipping) but right now Amazon.ca has them for great prices.
I just preordered pretty well every title from there, and vampire lovers I wasn't going to get but for 11.99 I can't say no!
Also for those who (in Canada like me) or ordered from the states the wait time is obviously greatly reduced, even when the packages were sent out early from importcds sometimes I would get them a week or more later, sometimes before and sometimes they were cancelled because they were never shipped. Amazon most always gets hem to me the next day.

Sorry for the rambling I was just very excited about it!

Q's art is great. The twin towers at the bottom covered by smoky clouds is a little eerie though...

and I agree, Jeff is such a character. He does not usually get much recognition. Its Cliff this and Cliff that. I think they are both good though. Whoever comes in here to talk. haha.

There is, however, the possibility of a trilogy set... MGM, Lionsgate, and Warner have been packaging franchises recently: The Terminator, Mad Max, Tarantino...

i wasn't going to reply to this but I just felt the need to...

Yes, Jeff and I are equal partners in the Scream Factory brand. We came up with it together. We both have equal say... and Jeff is a HUGE part of Scream Factory's success. We both work our asses off. It's basically a two-man show.

I do not just do "acquisitions".
I produce the discs, usually about four titles a month... not just Scream titles.

I'm in charge of what goes on the disc and I oversee the special features producers work and am the executive producer on each special feature. I have final say on all content.
I also oversee all Shout/Scream film transfers... those that we transfer from film to tape. We don't do new transfers on everything. I approve and oversee all authoring work too.

So, I'm a lot more than just acquisitions as I was so simply refered to.
