USA Chamber of Horrors and Man's Best Friend

Came across Chamber of Horrors (along with Dark Intruder (Black Cloak) in the past week, and after checking them out wanted to see them get a physical media Blu-ray release. Was going to suggest Chamber of Horrors for a WAC Blu-ray release (on seeing it's a Warner Brothers film), until I discovered Shout released it on Blu-ray in late July last year.

I discovered Dark Intruder (Black Cloak) has had a release by a different boutique label in the States.

Also adding to the list of Scream Factory titles I want to get is Man's Best Friend. I'd checked it out before and forgot about adding it to my list.

Well, this is a first.

While I'm aware that fellow blu-philes have had these and other problems for some time, this is a first for me.

I always purchase from Amazon.ca but I guess that doesn't (or never has lol) made a difference.

Child's Play 2 & 3 arrived and both cases had that weird manufacturing grease inside (with 2 being worse than 3). All four discs were filthy with the 4K discs in both being really dirty. Thankfully, it all just wipes off and there's no scratches but still...Annoying as heck.

I only got Child's Play 2, and my case was covered in the stuff too. The disc was clean though. I guess it's some kind of plastic sweat from the manufacturing or something.

My order of Child's Play 1-3 also arrived today. Child's Play 1 had the worst of the greasy stuff as it was on 1 of the blu ray discs as well as being all over the case. The 4k disc had 4 small scratches as well. Thankfully none of it impacted playback. Both Child's Play 2 and 3 had less of the grease and no scratches or smudges to speak of. It saddens me that there is no complete tv cut of CP2 and 3, but overall I'm thrilled to finally have these in 4k in collectors quality editions. Here's to hoping for 4k's for Bride and (shudder) Seed, sometime in the next year.

Just to chime in here about the 'grease'. I too got 'grease' on my 3 CP 4K releases. But it doesn't seem to be just Shout this is happening too. I opened my Subkultur 'Out of Order' 4K release last night and it had the same thing all over the case and on the disc. Wipes off very easily and a rag takes it off the case no problem. I assume it has something to do with the manufacturing of the plastic cases and have no problem if it keep the discs from getting scratched, but it's not just a Shout problem.

Probably mold release. Cases are molded plastic and the molds are sprayed with a lube so the cases will pop out and not stick. All molded plastic, including all BD cases have this stuff on it, you can't notice it. This is why anything made from plastic that involves food or eating must be washed first.
Plastic model kits should be washed first to make sure the primer and paint will adhere correctly.

The only UHD discs I have from Scream are the Halloween films in the hard shell case, but I have The Funhouse on order. What are the slipcases like for the other UHD releases? Are they just in line with the collector edition slipcovers or are they more sturdy like Halloween?

Standard Scream Factory Cardboard slipcover that has been shrink wrapped over the case.

Back to the topic of the cases being greasy and so many 4k releases having issues from a variety of companies as of late thanks to the Mexico production center... I also picked up Coneheads with the Child's Play 1-3 4k's and on the back of that case was a "Made in Germany" stamp" and so it would appear Paramount may be well aware and exploring other options for their releases. Hopefully other studios follow suit until the Mexico Plant gets things fixed.

Is it relatively safe to assume the Psycho and poltergeist sequels will most likely be released on UHD at some point by SF?

If Seed of Chucky happens to make it's way to 4k courtesy of Scream Factory in the future (and someone happens to still be lurking on these forums) I'd appreciate the inclusion of R Rated Cut. The difference is minimal (though more substantial than Candyman was) but the Theatrical Cut hasn't made it's way to Blu Ray/HD and so including it on the 4k would make for a nice addition to whatever else Scream Factory could come up with.

My 4k Halloween 2 set has a broken disc tray that holds the 2 discs and moves loosely inside.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement 3 disc 4k black case, or a replacement disc tray in the UK?

I was right! I found a Steelbook 4K image for The Running Man, coming from Paramount

Nice. Any chance you could magically unearth a Monster Squad listing now?

I was going to get the new 4K releases for the Child's Play trilogy and Candyman but I've heard here that a lot of the discs are really scuffed up and there are errors on the discs? Should I hold off?

Maybe you can find the non-steelbook version?

My Child's Play discs were scratchless.

It seems to be a bit of a crapshoot; some folks are receiving scratched discs, others aren't. My copy of Candyman had a few, verrry small scratches that had no impact on playback. My discs on all 3 Child's Play movies were pristine.

The scuffs and scratches are true unfortunately though the scuffs wipe off very easily with the proper cleaning cloth and I had next to no issues with scratches for all 3 Child's Play films. Only with the BD for part 3 but the exchange copy was fine. There were some initial reports that the 2.0 tracks were problematic on both Child's Play 2 and 3 but from what I and others can tell they sound great. The Atmos tracks on both parts 2 and 3 are messed up though if you were concerned about those.
