Maybe we should contact the studios that they have contracts via social media and let them know the disrespect this label is treating their films with.

Ugh…I assumed the Shaw boxset didn’t have a chance in hell getting through unscathed. Definitely gonna skip those collections for now..maybe way down the line when it’s discounted and grab it on Amazon. Thanks

In all seriousness I'm really curious how these discs are getting scratched in the Mexican plant. I feel like it would have to be truly horrible handling if this many discs are getting scratched. It just doesn't make sense to me. It's not just a Shout Factory issue, but widespread. I just don't get how so many discs can be scratched.

They probably don't fabricate the discs there right? Maybe they are damaged from the get-go before replication.

Actual footage

In all seriousness, I do wonder the same. The scratches often have a very similar pattern from what I've noticed, so maybe some machine in need of repair, or the way they're stacking them or something perhaps.

I have no idea how that works. I always thought the plants provided the discs, but maybe not?

It would really suck if it all came down to either a broken machine or bad procedure with storage. Who knows, but both of these ideas sound plausible.

They need to be issuing replacements.

Not as bad as LD days were discs could literally separate from the glue and aluminum.

Well somebody's just going to have to go down there. Go to Mexico, get a job in the plant and figure out what the H-E-double-hockey-sticks is the problem! Any takers?

It's believed to be held there, but there's issues with the person holding wanting a silly asking price or the country impounding it due to some tax fraud thing one of the producers was involved in.

I thought it was housed in the salt mine where they filmed the movie?

It was and I think still is, but one of the South African financiers obtained ownership of it. It's theorized the financier wants a ton of money for accessing it, the other story is that the person was involved in some tax fraud and his properties were seized by the government of South Africa.
