I mean, I understand that a lot of people are happy with the 4ks and I get that.

For me, in most (not saying ALL) cases, I'm done triple or quadruple dipping on titles. I'd rather we get new announcements of previously unreleased titles.

I would rather get previously unreleased titles as well but that is becoming more difficult unless companies want to put out really obscure (and likely not profitable) releases. These companies are in business to make money and re-releasing their currently held licensed titles is probably a lot less expensive.

And I totally get it, it is a business after all. But compared to how often I used to get SF, I maybe buy...1 or 2 releases a year? When compared to say Vinegar Syndrome or Severin.

Looking over my entire Scream/Shout Factory collection, I'm astounded by the variety of titles it consists of. Yes, many are re-issues (format upgrades) but there's also a very high number of new-to-disc titles (many have not been re-released), and many that hadn't seen a release since the VHS days. Shout has mined a lot of film libraries over the years; there's only so much left that hasn't already been re-released to death. A lot of stuff out there that is controlled by companies or people that don't care about films or licensing them out.

Scream has always stayed pretty close to their studio deals and not ventured much in super independent stuff. They've already mined their studios catalogues super deep and just don't have a lot of new stuff to release that would sell well. I'm fine with it since there are still a million new things being released all the time, and I enjoy upgrading some classic scream releases to 4k.

Yes I love those movies but I already own at least one copy of each and therefore have no excitement to buy them again !

I love collecting physical media but find the endless stream of double dips quite depressing, doesn’t anyone else miss the excitement of buying something that hasn’t actually been released before ?

I really do love buying new to disc or bluray titles... but unfortunately there's nothing any of us can do except hope for them to come eventually...

Night of the demons 3 will be new to bluray

Night of the Demons 3 was abominable. The crappy mid 90's-era CGI didn't help, either. Still, I'm oddly interested in a Blu-ray release.

This is the only title I'd be interested in. And that's probably because I've never seen it

I agree that new to Blu ray titles are preferred, but for me personally, I do enjoy getting a 4K with HDR for a movie I love. But I totally understand the double triple dip comment's. I just love those three announcements if they are true, because I've been really wanting those on proper 4K for years.

It doesn't have to be a choice of 4K upgrades or new to Blu-ray stuff - I think most are just asking for a balance every month (where possible). Let's say there's 5 releases, 3 of one and 2 of the other seems entirely reasonable.

You must be referring to U.S. blu-ray releases. I have UK and Hong Kong blus for Bride With White Hair.

They usually have a Summer sale in July. Not sure if they are skipping it this year.

Which I totally get- I was just answering Resident Evil Labs' question, as he implies that anyone not willing to upgrade from Blu to UHD doesn't like the films. But the fact is that not everyone can even detect the uptick in quality, or feels that it is worthwhile. From my personal experience, as a 62 year old, my eye sight is not what it used to be. I would not get any more enjoyment from a 4K disc, so I am content with my Blu-rays. It's not an attack on those who want them. Go for it! More power to you! But don't imply that those who don't want it aren't fans. And I do own some 4K discs, but only when it is the only way to get a film I am interested in purchasing. Or if there are extras I want.

Again, I am not attacking people who want them. But if an entire month is nothing but 4K upgrades, some people will be disappointed. I actually am never disappointed in any month's release slate from any distributor. There's plenty being released all the time to tax my budget.
