I sent off an email tonight to get disc replacements, and I bet they'll want pics of them, which is REALLY hard to capture. We'll see how much of a battle they make it.

This happens all too often with them and I'm surprised you haven't experienced any of it. IMO, it HAS to be something with their manufacturing process, either with someone manually handling and pressing the discs into the cases or something on an automation line that's treating these things too roughly.
At this point it's just a coin flip from any US studio, last week I received 6! scratched disks from Sony "official" ebay store one of them kept skipping. Kino, Criterion etc. I only don't care to unpack imported releases because of mostly good experience with their QC. You remind me I had 3 orders from Shout, it's 100% I'm getting scratched disks

It's everybody to a degree, but there are worse offenders than others. In my experience Shout and Criterion stand out.

I've had plenty of scratched discs from the big studios along with Shout, Criterion, and Kino. Labels I've never received a single scratched discs would be Arrow, Blue Underground, Cauldron, Second Sight, Severin, Synapse, or Vinegar Syndrome.

Don't forget RLJ, MVD, Mill Creek, Warner Archive... it's not just the major labels, I've gotten scratched discs from all of them(!)

But... I also get pristine, scratch free discs from all of those labels too. It's a total crap shoot.

Imprint released a four disc BD set of Jim Sheridan films. Besides The Boxer, it also includes My Left Foot, The Field, and In the Name of the Father, with all sorts of extras. My understanding is that all Imprint BDs are region free (someone please correct me if I'm wrong about that). It's OOP, though, and costs a bundle (at least on Amazon US).

I'm sorry but My Left Foot was about as interesting as watching bread rise.

Thanks Cliff. I appreciate your response and apologies for suggesting an inaccuracy. I'm impressed with all the work you did for Scream Factory and the innovation (and probably stress) of building that Halloween set.

I'm curious to see how your title acquisition approach changes from Scream to Arrow. You mentioned in the CHH interview that some titles couldn't be obtained if they didn't seem financially worth it. I really dug releases like Demented (1980) since I feel like that could have been lost to time. Those releases of Death Valley, The Island, Deadly Blessing, X-Ray/Schizoid, Final Terror, Without Warning, and Deadly Eyes really helped get me into blu ray collecting. Final Terror is now one of my favorite horror films.

Thank you for all of the work at Scream Factory. Best of luck at Arrow and looking forward to your contributions there.

No joke. In a way, it was almost awe inspiring.

See that white section of the wall, in the left side of the photo? Imagine that filled from top to bottom.

EDIT: couldn't link the image directly

Oh, I totally remember Blockbuster dedicating entire walls to big movies. Spice World just struck me as particularly hilarious. The late 90s were truly the best of times.

It's so true.

I worked at Blockbuster at that time, and was also doing an improv show on my weekends. For years, I gave out our excess VHS copies of Spice World and DVDs of Gigli as "prizes" for audience members

I always get warm and tingly thinking of the video rental shop days!

My local shop used to give me tons of posters and gave me a huge Urban Legend standee. So many happy memories.

My sale order arrived today... The People Under the Stairs, Sword and the Sorcerer, Bubba Ho-Tep CE bundle. Thanks to the posters for Bubba Ho-Tep, everything came in a larger box. All films came with slips and were in excellent condition. No noticeable scratches or Thumb prints. Interestingly Bubba Ho-Tep came with 3 slips. The standard cover art version, the illustrated version with a solid back that had no cutout for the UPC, and then a 2nd illustrated version with a long Rectangular cut out section for the upc to display. This last slip was sealed in a white carboard envelope and so i had no idea what was in it until I opened it.

I'm guessing that since they are clearing out stock they just threw in an on hand illustrated slip that was meant for folks needing replacements, but that's just a guess.

All in all I was quite pleased with everything though and am looking forward to revisiting "The people..." and checking out Sword and the Sorcerer and Bubba Ho-Tep for the first time.

I would have taken Gigli with gratitude. Was not nearly as bad as people made it out to be. It's very watchable.

In the interview posted on this thread, the issue was he was being tasked with doing 3-5 different jobs when he was being paid for only doing one. They lumped too many duties into his role.

Corporate America at its worst.

When it comes to their sales your best bet is to try to find 5+ titles, my 5-6 titles order shipped in a box. When I buy an exclusive by itself it comes in an envelope but those don't have slips to be damaged.
