Scream Factory Blu-ray Discussion Thread

Why can't they just release the Blaxploitation boxset with only Blu-ray titles, with being 4K this set is way to expensive. Why can't they have sets like the Shaw Brothers and the Shinning Stars instead, and release more titles as why have the same film on Blu-ray and 4K as I would rather have Blu-ray only at a lower price. It's like these other companies that keep releasing the same titles from Blu-ay to 4K, I rather have them to release movies that have never been released than ones that already have.

They likely won't happen on Blu-ray. Jackass 1 & 2 were completely shot on SD Video and output to film for theatrical release.

The only reason Jackass 3 and later were released on Blu-ray was because they were shot on HD video.

I'd have likely jumped on it if it was blu-ray only. I wonder if they don't think there's a big market for these movies so they decided just to do the one set and call it a day.

I enjoyed Fade To Black but don't need it on 4K. Also, this somehow feels like a downgrade compared to the VS release. What Lies Beneath, OTOH, is a definite purchase. I like to cozy up to this one on dreary late Saturday afternoons.

Technically the openings and and closings of the films are in HD. I'd be fine with having the openings in HD and the rest in SD upscale. That would still be an upgrade.

Whoever was in charge of this Blaxploitation Box Set is a complete savage! 4K! Some of the best films of the genre! Volume 1!!!! Shout giving this genre the Rolly Royce treatment is a thing of beauty.

And yeah.. the outer box art is in need of an appt with fire, but unless my eyes deceive me, it certainly looks thick enough to house six films with six seperate cases which will allow the owner to divorce the boxart from the movies.

Only in rare cases do I pre-order and pay msrp. This is one of those cases. Thank you Shout!!!

I hope they at least get the same artist that did their Chinese Odyssey release or their Shaw Brothers sets.

Ideally, Sean Longmore would be my choice for those films. His covers for Eye for an Eye for VinSyn and Crime Story 4K for 88 Films are evocative of the style of art that John Woo's heroic bloodshed films deserve.

Same us blaxploitation fans like me have been wanting a big box set for so long, and now thanks to Shout! Factory re-releasing these titles in 4K plus new Blu-Rays I don't have to buy the old Olive, and Kino Blu-Rays of these. Thank you Shout! Factory thank you so so much this is freaking amazing. Yes this is the only thing I'm buying in May I'm not even kidding I can wait to buy the other stuff I wanted to pre-order during June, or July.

...And now we have a multi-film blaxploitation 4K UHD box set, volume number one, on the horizon.

I sure can dig it I'm so dang excited about this set. Looks like one of the boutique labels changed their minds on that statement, and I have a feeling we're getting a volume 2 at some point. That set will include first time Blu-Ray titles too plus new Blu-Rays of Hammer, and Foxy Brown. If I have to guess Volume 2 will have

That set is one of the best I have seen from Scream Factory, sans the F13 set. This set is straight up getting the Coupe DeVille treatment from Shout. The artwork sucks, but these are all A list titles from the genre. Missing a few, but hopefully Vol#2 has those. The price has me hesitant for a price cut, so patience will be key, but definitely putting this playa on my shelf. Scent is a must buy!! hooowaaa!! Sky Captain is a sale item, but the VS Fade is more than fine for me and not a fan of the Ford/Pfeiffer film. Still that set came out of nowhere and has my penny jar cringing. Awesome release Shout!!

Same I saw the set this morning, and I was in complete shock to see a blaxploitation set coming from Shout! Factory, but it happened and it’s insane seeing it here.
