Now this is an interesting tidbit. Would you be able to share how something like this works? Is this a case of the film being licensed long ago and knowing when the US rights expire, but with the now mystery company's current identity/status unavailable? If you were interested in a title in such a position (not saying this title specifically) can you simply wait for that expiration date to pass and attempt to license new rights from the film owners in Japan?

Just curious how these odd rights situations, especially for US rights to non-US films, shake out. (I know a handful of MST3K titles have been impossible to figure out despite many efforts!)

Now Olive Films on the other is releasing Fire Maidens of Outer Space which is and was a great choice for MST3K - the famous Timmy episode
As Rifftrax has proven, sometimes movies that are dated/quirky rather than outright awful work better. There are some painful episodes of truly low-rung awful films that aren't that funny to me because the films are just THAT bad to sit through, while the merely OK films such as TIE are often much funnier to me.

I'm also not much of a fan of the amityville horror but I'm happy scream got the rights to release 3 of them because I know there's plenty of people who do like it. I'm interested to check out Amityville II though.

Despite poor reviews from critics and audiences alike, there's been some horror friends who's opinion I hold value to who don't even like the original but love it's sequel for some reason.

I'm sure there's something to that and I'll probably grab this box set if its a good price. As I said, I'm not a fan but then again I don't hate the franchise and strangely enough I do occasionally feel the desire to watch amityville horror even though I know I never enjoy it THAT much. Plus I like to support good companies and Scream are doing enough excellent work that's making me really happy to warrant giving them some extra cash.

It's the last of the Godzilla films not on at least DVD in the US...whomever has the rights is missing out, I would think this would sell well at this point. I remember seeing this in the theater when it came out here and would love to check it out again.

I actually really like The Amityville Trilogy cover. Very creepy! Glad to hear they will have their original artwork on the cases as well.

As for the Price set, it's uderstandable that they can't have their own covers but it's nice to hear there will be a booklet that does. Once again Scream goes that extra step that they don't need to to please the fans.

My dream release of Godzilla 1984 would be
-the Raymond Burr version
-the International English language version aka The Return of Godzilla
-The Japanese version
I think I would send Cliff a bottle of Saki (or a case) as a thank you if he could get this movie...I have so many ideas and things for this release. It is one my favorites and it has some sentimental value that I wont get into right now..but this movie is right at the top of my wish list..more than the Kindred, Fright Night 2 and Without Warning...Im a lifelong Godzilla fan ! Grrrr !

I don't believe Shout has much interaction with HBO, who owns The Hitcher.

Surprise title announcement coming later today to celebrate Scream Factory's first birthday!

Let the guessing begin! I'll try The People Under the Stairs.

I say it's either Village of the Damned or Shocker.
