Wow, still no shipping email for Howling & Lifeforce. Amazon says it's been shipped. I'm sure it will arrive tomorrow. Looking forward to watching one, or both, over the weekend!

Maybe this has been discussed but is there are reason for Scream Factory movies to be $18+ and NEVER drop in price? I am a horror fan/collector, applaud the job they have done but the prices are always too high. It would be one thing if they ever went on sale but they never do.

First of all $18.99 - $19.99 is a sale price. If you're expecting them to be $10.00 or less then you have to look at SCREAM along the lines of Criterion... quality releases that have extra care and features for the movie collector.
They are well worth the 20 bucks....

+1

Worth every penny. If you are patient and vigilant, you can secure the 19.99 price on the collector's editions, and with some companies having sales and coupons, you can shave a little off that...I got Lifeforce and Howling from Family Video using a free shipping coupon; each was $17.99, and I was very happy with that. Some have gotten a little cheaper elsewhere (maybe B&N with sales and coupons?).

Just a guess, but licensing fees, higher production costs, smaller print runs and fewer distribution outlets are probably the main factors that account for the higher retail pricing than what you'd see from the major studios and their releases.

It's a beyond bizarro thing to get agitated about. Or post about. Or speak out loud.

Huzzah to the boys at Scream Factory for landing these two contemporary classics! Huzzah to the greatest of 1980s horror sequels!
ditto on the kudos to Scream Factory, they are rolling out some sweet movies.

what's up with all these 'huzzahs'? do people still use that word? it makes me feel like I'm at a civil war reenactment. just saying.

If you look at the BD+DVD combo packs from other similar specialty labels (BU, Synapse, Severin, etc.), Scream's pricing is about par for the course

edit: other than Inglorious Bastards which is $8 for some reason, so I'll go ahead and pick that up

that's true as well-- if it's a specialty label, and the movie falls for $20 or less.. I have no problem buying it--

how would everyone like it if SHOUT offerred TWILIGHT pricing and policies???

I'm anxiously awaiting the pre-orders for the Amityville Trilogy and Vincent Price collection to go up. I plan on grabbing both of course, especially the Price set, but I am a little worried about the prices.

The pre-order for the Shout Bruce Lee Collection is up on Amazon.ca, and they want $100 for it! That's insane for four movies and a doc. (I Am Bruce Lee) that isn't even on Blu-ray! The Friday Collection is the same price and it includes 12 movies, and 11 hours of extras! As much as I want the Bruce Lee Collection and these horror sets, they should not be more then the $20 per movie their Collector's Edition movies are. If anything they should be much less since you are buying in bulk. They should have cut out the DVDs in the Bruce Lee set and sold it for half the price. Who is going to care about the DVDs if they own the Blu-rays, and for those that don't have a Blu-ray player and just want the DVDs I doubt they are going to pay $100 when they can get a similar boxset (Fox's Ultimate Collection) with the same movies plus Game of Death 2 for like $10.

Sorry, a bit of a rant there but I have bought and pre-ordered every Scream and just about every Shout title, so I was disappointed to see the price of the Bruce Lee collection so expensive, a set I was highly excited for, and am kind of worried their horror collections will be just as high.

Depends where you buy. I just ordered several titles from Importcds.com. Got Terrorvision/ The Video Dead and The Burning for $13.58 each and The Howling for $15.89. To me, that seems like a pretty fair price.

Finished Lifeforce. Great film and an incredibly amazing package by Scream. Fantastic PQ/AQ and some great extras. Can't wait for The Howling tomorrow.

Please, anyone but Image or Anchor Bay for Night of the Demons. Not if they're to be done right.
