I agree, these announcements seem to be watering down the Scream Factory line and making it more general, less horror oriented, assuming these are in fact all Scream Factory releases.

I was thinking it would be Shout, as with the other two I compared it to.

I think so many are disappointed because of how amazing The Super Six.

They see they're announcing titles at SDCC, they think itll be amazing.

In reality, only Nightbreed is worthy of the title "Super."

Although, it might be the most impactful release to date!

Saturn 3 is a properly warped movie... I also never got the Blu-ray version of Darkman... just have an HD-DVD of it... so that will work for me also.

Hmmm... apparently Eve of Destruction was previously announced in Frightener22's video last November.

No horror titles, but a lot of welcome titles nonetheless.

I agree with your logic but question why they would announce general Shout Factory titles at the Scream Factory panel when the 2014 Scream Factory line is apparently so robust.

Plenty of sci-fi fans/bloggers at a Comic Con to stir up interest. It still could be Scream though, just doesn't seem a very good fit.

Very disappointed with that lineup. The thought of them turning down Night of the Demons for some of those really saddens me.

I really hope they start releasing more Slasher's soon.

I'm definitely up for Cat People, Darkman and Nightbreed.

As much as I love Assault on Precinct 13, I've already got the Image Blu-Ray. It'll depend on what Shout brings to the table before I make the call to double dip.

I'm not familiar with Saturn 3 or Eve Of Destruction (although I recall one of my good friends talking about Saturn 3, wanting to get it on Blu-Ray; I'm sure he'll love the news).

"Darkman." Cool, hopefully at the very least they get Raimi to do a commentary, and I can only hope for interviews from Liam Neeson, Frances McDormand, Larry Drake, and Ted Raimi and maybe even Bruce Campbell for good measure. But, I just don't get why they didn't get "Army of Darkness" if they could get this one.

Yes, "Darkman" right now deserves a better more special features filled release than "Army", just because "Darkman" never got the proper special features treatment ever, if I'm correct? But, "Army of Darkness" is right behind it. They almost go hand in hand in Raimi's career. Filmed one after another, they kind of represented a turning point in his career.

Not to mention "Army of Darkness" deserves and needs a definitive edition that takes everything Anchor Bay ever included in their releases, along with both cuts of the film. Just see this as a missed opportunity. But who knows maybe they worked really hard to try and get it and for some reason they couldn't, who knows.
I agree that Army of Darkness deserves a definitive release. Unfortunately, Cliff had confirmed that, while they did try to get it, they were turned down on that one. Quite frankly, I can see why. Army of Darkness is a popular catalog title for Universal; that was the reason they elected to hold onto it instead of renewing Anchor Bay's distribution rights. I see it being a title they'd be more inclined to hold onto for themselves over Darkman, which, while still being a cult classic, doesn't have the same amount of fans AOD does.

It's the same reasoning why I can see them hanging onto another title people have requested, The Thing, despite licensing over a decent chunk of their John Carpenter-related properties.

They can say what they want on Facebook, or the case spine, but one thing is clear... some of these titles just don't fit in with the others.

Cliff later clarified that they passed on NOTD for other reasons than just having a full slate, but did not elaborate. It doesn't see like a logical move but we may not have all the information and Cliff seems to know what he's doing.

I would like to see "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" and "Don't Go To Asleep" on Blu-ray.

But since "The Initiation of Sarah" and "Are You In The House Alone?" are going to be DVD-only, I guess that would never happen. And I already own "DBAotD" on Special Edition DVD from when the remake was released, and it looks and sounds pretty good!

So, I guess "Don't Go To Sleep" would be a good one to release! Lol.

I have the French Blu of Army of Darkness, and I think this may be the best version we get, as Universal seems happy to just sit on their current version.
The great thing is it's Region free, so it will play in any blu player. (I got mine through Amazon France)
It has 3 cuts of the film: Theatrical (which looks like the same US transfer so no upgrade here), The International cut, and the Director's cut which both look amazing. The color timing on the Int and Director's cut are way ahead of the US, as well as the picture quality and the night scenes benefit from this. Years ago I had to import a DVD from Hong Kong to get the Director's cut, and this blu seems to have the same great print (in HD of course).
What's amazing too is that on the disc, the US version opens with the Universal intro, while the other 2 versions open with an MGM intro -- which is why I'm doubtful we'll see that here. Has a few extras too.

So as a fan I'm pretty happy with this, holding on to my old DVDs for the different extras and that may be the best I can do at this point.

Apparently, the Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut deal has been in the works for a long time.

#SDCC 2013: The Scream Factory Announces the Upcoming Release of Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut

Quote:
We have excellent news for those of you out there hungry to see the two-hour and forty-five-minute version of Night Breed known as Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut (review). The Scream Factory has just announced the flick is officially on its way!

The announcement was made during the Scream Factory panel at the San Diego Comic-Con. The stunning news came from Scream's Mark Miller and Cliff MacMillan who have been working on bringing this film to the masses with Michael G. Plumides, Jr. since January. This is incredible news for fans of the film and there's no doubt this will be one of the single most highly anticipated releases of not only the year, but probably the whole damned decade!

Rejoice, fans! it really doesn't get much bigger and cooler than this Stay tuned for an official press release soon with further details.

There's already been a CAT PEOPLE Special Edition on DVD and HD-DVD with a retro documentary, commentary and other extras. All Shout has to do is port them over since it's one of those Universal HD-DVDs that never made it to Blu-Ray.

I'm kind of disappointed with the announcements. DARKMAN is useless to me unless it's a new transfer...the current one is so mediocre I can't see paying for it again, no matter how many extras they throw on there. EVE OF DESTRUCTION was totally "meh". Is there a huge following that's developed for that one?

SATURN 3 though is fun...it's a terrible movie, but I'm looking forward to seeing it again for the unintentional comedy.

CAT PEOPLE sounds good. However, my favorite upcoming releases from Scream/Shout have been announced previously: THE VINCENT PRICE COLLECTION, THE MGM SCI-FI sets (Timeless), and the further down the road UNHOLY ROLLERS.

There should be an interesting Horror's Hallowed Grounds for Cat People with the New Orleans locations.
Also The Fog, The Howling, and From Beyond had special edition dvds that had extras added by Scream.
