The only disappointing thing about these announcements is that we have to wait until next year for Nightbreed & Cat People. I'm very happy about those titles (and the twofer of TV movies), can't wait to throw my money at them.

Thankfully Synapse seem's to be picking up steam at the end of 2013 and into 2014 with Demons 1& 2 leading into Prom Night and Curtains.
You're not going to get any good extras with a Poltergeist III release, so you might as well just wait for MGM Fox to release a barebones copy. It'll happen eventually.

I'm guessing risky1975 was referring to a Blu-Ray edition of the theatrical cut which is not yet available anywhere.

Also, Cliff, why isn't Crimewave a Scream title when Darkman is? The former seems to be more horror oriented than the latter.
this is easy to understand. horror fans know the names raimi and carpenter. they are very well known for their work in horror.

Cliff told us in advance that certain deals might not be signed by the time of Comic Con. Nothing to worry about.

maybe they are trying a different strategy from what they did at horrorhound last year when they blew their load with the super six or whatever they were called. maybe if they had announce one of those titles with a few lower tier titles at a time people wouldn't have gotten so upset when we got announcements of the vampire lovers and terrorvison. while I like those kinds of movies they just don't have the appeal of movies like the burning or from beyond

I said the comment you're referring to. And I did mean a blu ray of the theatrical cut.

Definitely picking up Nightbreed. I'm not sure if the Cabal Cut is better than the theatrical version because I haven't seen it, but I will support the movie regardless. I am obsessed with seeing lost or uncut footage from older films even if it doesn't add anything to the movie. More often than not the footage ends up being excessive gore or nudity that was cut by the MPAA which I'm always in favor of seeing reinserted.

Hopefully the tv movies sell well. The Midnight Hour desperately needs a Scream release.

I hope Cliff and company reconsider Night of the Demons in the future if it isn't too late. Love everything about that movie. One of the best horror movies of the 80's in my opinion.

Keep up the good work Shout/Scream. Looking forward to more great horror/cult films this year and in years to come.

They said they didn't have the big deals finalized yet.

I'm sure as soon as they can, they'll announce some more.

Some of us have been waiting years for the Cabal Cut to make it to DVD and Blu-ray, so waiting another year isn't so bad. I remember signing one of the first petitions pleading Morgan Creek to search for the missing footage. I never thought we would hear the announcement of an assembled cut, let alone a home video release. At least we can take solace in the fact that Scream Factory is involved with the film now and will deliver the goods.

They still have 46+ titles to announce, for what it is this announcement was great, even though it wasn't what we expected.

Im kinda glad that there was very little to get excited about here as there are already so many titles I plan to get this year, anymore and i'd need to get a second job !

Assault on Precinct 13 is one of my favorite films (never understood how some prefer the remake), but it'd have to have some nice extras to re-buy it as I recently grabbed the Austrian disk which had a better transfer then the U.S. disk and cool extras in and of itself.

I have my own fingers crossed for The Night Stalker. Someone else mentioned it and I agree.

I thought Cliff had said relatively recently and (as I recall) rather definitively that they wouldn't be doing any made-for-TV on BD.

I'll be okay if they do it as a DVD double feature. I just want to have it without paying $50.

According to a friend that reads the Latarnia forums, Bill Olsen made an offhanded reference (in regards to their deal for Prom Night and Curtains) that Echo Bridge is considering licensing some things to Shout! Factory.

If that turns out to be true...I bet that will "make up" for the SDCC announcements.

EDIT:

Lots of possibilities to come out of this. They handle Miramax, so if deals are made the list could be huge. Halloween 6 (finally!), Phantoms, perhaps even a proper SE of Rodriguez' The Faculty since there isn't one. Many, many more that currently elude me. Hope it turns out to be true and if it is true that the deal is made.
