Default Shout Factory - Playback issues

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but does anyone else have problems viewing the Special Features on Shout Factory's blu-rays? The only BD player I have capable of viewing region A discs (I'm in Europe...) is a cheap no-brand player (Tecsonic, to be precise), without an internet connection, meaning no firmware update in the last 5 years. Still, of the 600 or so BDs I have, this is a problem I've only encountered with Shout Factory discs. I can only move the "marker" in the menu 3-4 times before the disc "freezes". I then have to eject the disc or turn off the player.

This means I can watch the movies: I just choose "play" in the menu, and turn on subs etc when the movie is playing. But I cannot get to the bonus features without the disc freezing. Same goes when I try to access bonus content via the pop-up menu. Has anyone else experienced this? Affected discs: They Live, The Howling, Phantasm 2 (maybe 1 or 2 more, but these are the only ones I can think of on the top of my head. If anyone can help me out here, I'd much appreciate it!

I'm sure they saw the original cut and had no idea what it was about or how to market it. All in all, "The Cabal Cut" is about an hour of deleted footage they've reinstated back into the movie to make it closer to Clive's original vision. The name "Cabal" comes from the name of the book "Nightbreed" is based on.
Thanks!

Some movies age better than others, Terror Train was sourced from the best available to Shout, and it looked horrible but they did a phenomenal job of cleaning it up. It looks exponentionally better than anything else available for that film.

Terror Train's print was in bad shape, its not shout's fault. They didn't have the responsibility to store it properly or make sure it look well over the last 30 years. They did an amazing job working with what they had.
I'm sorry this was littered with dirt and scratches, not cleaned up a bit, looked like a bad DVD not bluray. We can say they did a great job, blame it on age, storage, whatever.Bottom line this is there image on the line and if they couldn't give it a proper release then it should not be released, bottom line.

God forbid. We don't want anyone thinking there's interest in THAT "Alone In The Dark."

In regards to the latest announcements, I imagine "Cat People" will look mighty fine in the extras department since locking Paul Schrader's involvement should be easy since he contributed an interview on the "Rolling Thunder" disc.

Not to mention the locations. Can you smell a Horror's Hallowed Grounds or what?

Mine too. I hope there's one for Night of the Comet, too.

But from what I hear, he didn't want to do it, or something like that.

Paul Schrader is an outspoken guy. I'm sure he'd be glad to comment on any of his work, not to mention, him and Bret Easton Ellis recently teamed up on a feature with male pornstar James Deen and Lindsay Lohan in the leads, called "The Canyons."

And from what I hear they seemed to disagree on how it turned out when they saw the final cut. I can't find a link as to where I read it but "The Canyons" will be available August 2nd on IFC I think? Or OnDemand? I'm really not sure. Schrader certainly has had quite the career.

Some films of his I'd like to see get the blu-ray treatment: American Gigolo, Light Sleeper, Auto Focus, and (even though he was only credited as writer) Bringing Out The Dead.

Hardcore is his masterpiece (to me anyway) I would love to see it released on blu-ray.
Maybe with Twilight Time... sometimes...

I have a two-part question:

1.) Is there any chance Scream would ever land "Silver Bullet", "The Stuff" or "The Pit"?

2.) Has anyone with a Family Video near them seen them sell Scream Factory BDs?

Silver Bullet is @ Warner Bros. through the Paramount deal. so the chances are very slim.

The Stuff is @ Image/RLJ Entertainment through Lakeshore who bought out the New World library and the guy who had deal with the former owners of the new world catalog, he took his client from when he used to work at Anchor Bay to Image/RLJ, who knows about this one, but i have a feeling if the guys at shout talk to him, they might make an arrangement at some point. it is possible, or Don May jr may strike again and through more $$.

The Pit I dont know who has it, it was released by Anchor Bay on DVD as a double feature with a film called Hellgate in 2004.

I have a Family Video by me, but I never go to it. I wouldn't be able to answer the second question.
