I first read it in the book The films of Stephen King by Ann Lloyd. Ok I am looking at the book right now and it's different from what I remembered.
Began with Our Girl's (Drew) funeral and her grief stricken Mother (Candy Clark) is convinced the Cat stole her breath. Then she arms herself with a machine gun and goes for the cat. Who is at that point hunting for the troll and then the cat goes off into it's adventures. The prolog mainly explains why the cat has visions of the girl. It might be different than that but that is what's written in this book. Taken out because the film's backers were unhappy about having the girl dead on the outset of the film. They were also worried if animal lovers would react badly towards a cat being shot at too. It says many of the other cat's finest scenes were cut down as well. |

Cat's Eye was a Dino De Laurentiis owned film that (much like Red Sonja) MGM distributed in the US (and as you say Warner distributes through Turner's catalog). Outside the U.S., different studios handle it beyond Warner, so it's possible we could see it from a different label overseas.

Sorry, the way I phrased my comment implied it's still a rumor. You're right, it's very much a fact Criterion has it.

I needed about .67 cents to get free shipping on Antiviral and Poltergeist Digibook, so I figured why not make it a horror-filled order and pick up some Scream stuff I'm missing!
I basically picked up everything I didn't have that was under $20 on Amazon. Ended up getting The Howling and Lifeforce for 18.99, and The Incredible Melting Man and Vampire Lovers for 14.99. Now I'm missing The Nest, Prison, Phantasm II, From Beyond, The Burning, Dead Souls, Ninja 3, The Town that Dreaded Sundown, and The Fog. Still, 13/24 releases ain't bad! Looking most forward to getting From Beyond, Phantasm II, The Town that Dreaded Sundow, Prison, and The Fog next. ![]() Everything I'm really excited for is the end of the year though. Day of hte Dead, Prince of Darkness, Amityville Trilogy, Cockneys, and the Vincent Price Collection. ![]() |

I just thought it was a bit peculiar that the Corman BD line was dropped because they did not sell well, when SF subsequently has released movies one would think cater to an even smaller audience. But maybe Scream has established their brand so well now, that more people are willing to take chances on little known features, simply because Scream are the ones releasing them? |
