Karen Black contributed to my THE PYX disc, and due to schedule conflict, couldn't meet her, but wish I did, as I would have loved to ask her about PORTNOY'S COMPLAINT!
You're right that happens and I bet that the day Jamie Lee Curtis passes away it will happen again. Thanks for The Pyx disc, great movie and Karen does a great job. I loved the commentary, not only do we get a lot of info and specifics from the movie, but Karen is a total hoot like always. Any chance that it might make the leap to blu?

The line in question, isn't a solid line, and it's very, very faint. Static probably isn't the right decription. It more like a series of pinhole-esque marks very near, but not quite at the edge of the frame.

I really didn't notice the line while watching the film from my usual position, only when I was standing almost immediately in front of the screen, and only if I was looking for it.

funny thing is that I'm really not that picky--- I have no issues with THE FOG and THEY LIVE which seem to be getting a lot of complaints... but I find this particular issue to be very noticeable... my TV is wall mounted and I'm looking up at it from within 10-12 feet... maybe that's why I see it so well?

Legal issues mainly. From I've gathered over the last while is that originally Code Red was supposed to release it but due to Code Red's..shall we say 'unreliability'.. Kristy Jett who's a part of the Fright Rags team managed to wrangle Popcorn away from the Code Red people. Only to have Code Red turn right around and try and get it back. So they're just going back and forth now.

It's a shame. Someone needs to let go so this cool flick can be released again.

Guess my Elite DVD will have to hold me over till this can get fixed.

Any number of things could account for perceptual differences such as viewing angle (the center of the screen is at eyeline in my case), screensize (42" plasma for me), calibration settings (0 sharpness for me), differences in vision, just to name a few. Viewing distance wouldn't appear to be one of them as I sit approximately 6 - 8 feet away from the set.

It's basically the same issue with The Mutilator. Code Red had it, sat on it, decided not to release it. Some upstart company wants to release it, but Code Red has said they still have the rights to it. And so on, and so on.

That's also why we still haven't seen a decent release of Night Warning; Code Red strikes again.

Code Red did a similar thing with The Visitor, that's why another company is putting it out on blu-ray now, when they just recently released the DVD.

They sure put the lion's share on Amityville II; not that I'm complaining.

I would rather have had commentaries about the film and its production (shame they couldn't port the Newman/Jones commentaries from II and III, those two really are the best) than one from a 'ghost hunter' (must be a frustrating job) but still looks like a nice collection of interviews. The R2 disc of II also included an extended version of the "Lost Souls" sequence, apparently that also isn't included. Too bad the two History Channel docs aren't ported either.

I watched My Amityville Horror last night.
What a douche bag...

But the movies are like filmed gold!
Can't wait.

EDIT:

I will definitely be keeping my DVD set with the 'bonus disc' with The History Channel documentaries, just for the sake of sticking them in a little paper disc-envelope and sliding it in my new blu-ray set!!

It reminds me of that dreadful extra feature that they put on the collector's edition of Poltergeist. Grab your hangers, folks, and lets find us some ghosts.

Everyone's been chiming in on Leviathan and Deep Star Six....I went ahead and watched the dvd's for the first time in years.... they would be amazing and benefit being on blu.... I'd also throw in the obligatory "Screamers" wish from me, despite it being with Lionsgate....

Ah, that's make more sense. Now I see it!

If you look at the DVD caps, they all also have a very faint transparent line just below the top edge. I thought that this was what everybody was talking about.

Thanks for your help!
