My choices:
-Suspiria
-The Wicker Man
-Phantasm
-The Ninth Configuration
-Dawn of the Dead

I would think that THE WICKER MAN would be a perfect choice for Criterion!!

I never seen it but I heard Angelina Jolie gives a good performance and Eastwood directs so awesome there. I already think it was released on bluray and I don't think a big label would give that movie to scream factory.

I think they are probably talking about the original (no relation at all to the Jolie version) with George C Scott. lol

I want Criterion to put Carnival of Souls on blu. I believe it's public domain so I think that's why they don't.

Shout's website has been down an awful lot lately. I wonder why?

Maybe they're just putting up the November titles.

Does anyone else think that Bubba Ho-Tep would be deserving of a Criterion release? I think that it would fit in just the same way Eating Raoul and Repo Man would.

It didn't stop them from releasing it on DVD. I don't think it's fully Public Domain though, only US theatrical prints. The DVD had a never before released director's cut as well as the theatrical cut. The director's cut should still have a valid copyright.

Criterion's release some public domain films on blu-ray.
Like Things to Come.

But Carnival of Souls isn't in the public domain, its, I believe Warner Bros.
This would be the extended version, the pd sleaze version is cut and its not the "original vision".

Unless something has changed over the years, I don't think it's with Warner Brothers. Matthew Irvine and Peter Soby had purchased the rights in the mid-90's. They then worked out a deal with MPI and Criterion to release the DVD. To my knowledge, the rights have not since been resold.

From Criterion, I'd like:

BLOOD AND ROSES (1960)
DEMENTIA 13 (Coppola audio commentary, plus restoration of the long-missing D-13 Test scene)
THE WICKER MAN (1973) both original and director cuts; Lee commentary
HORROR OF DRACULA, aka DRACULA, restored version for the US

I would die if Criterion ever released Brian De Palma's "Carrie", restored and remastered on Blu-ray. Sigh.
