Scream Factory Blu-ray Discussion Thread

Bring on the Sales! I only Have 7 Scream Factory releases so far, but I plan on picking up about 85% of them, so Sales are all good in my book. I'd imagine that there will be more announcements/Product detailings of upcoming releases with just a sprinkling of sales, but we'll see.

I only have 3. They Live, Phantasm II, Halloween II. I was going to pick up Halloween III but didn't have enough on my Amazon cards.

Also, I watched Terror Train last night. I'm still surprised how good it was, considering my distaste for the first Prom Night, another Canadian slasher with Jamie Lee.

They live is one of the few, that as of right now, I don't plan on picking up. I've watched it enough times over the years, and I've never really been all that big of a fan, so unless the title gets down to the $10 range I likely won't pick it up.

As it stands right now, I have; Halloween II, Halloween III, From Beyond, Phantasm II, Ninja III, The Fog, and The Howling. The titles at the top of my list right now are Scanners 2/3, Terrorvision/Video Dead, The Amityville Horror Trilogy, and Psycho II & III. All titles I wouldn't think would be included in any sales... However I need to pick up those earlier titles anyways, so if any of those happen to have a sale I'll jump on them.

Since Scream factory did Scanners 2 & 3 I wish theyd do Scanner Cop as its my favorite of the Scanner sequels.

It's Republic, so maybe Olive. If Scream were to release it, it would be paired with Scanner Cop 2 (Scanners: The Showdown).

The only cast member still alive is Lee Montgomery who played the son. And from the main crew, the only ones still alive are the producer and the screenwriter.

Shame no one had jumped on a hi-def release sooner; they might have been able to get an interview with (the late, great) Karen Black.

I imagine there are archive interviews or older promotional material that Scream could license (if I recall correctly there was one of those "featurettes" made to promote the film back in the day for TV).

They could also go to the house (it's a very cool looking house near Oakland, CA) and shoot around the house comparing and contrasting the sets of the film to the interior of the house.

Shout hasn't been shy about licensing extras either--they could license the MGM commentary track featuring writer William F. Nolan (Nolan is still alive and they could do a featurette on him), Dan Curtis and Karen Black.

It could all be done but they'd have to move quickly as Nolan was born in 1928 and is getting up there in years.

The big difficulty is the "look" of the film i.e., how it was shot. Some folks will think it's a bad transfer no matter what and that could impact whether or not they want to bring it to Blu.

What's the similarity between terror train and prom night, besides Jamie Lee Curtis?

I hope the 31 Days of Scream does have some good sales. All I need to complete the current Scream roster are The Island, Vampire Lovers, Swamp Thing, Psycho III, Scanners II/III, and the Amityville Horror Collection.

Scream Factory should pick up Tobe Hooper's 1979 televised miniseries adaptation of Stephen King's Salem's Lot.

I have the DVD here at home, but I'm not satisfied. It's not a completely faithful adaptation by any stretch, since Hooper took a Nosferatu homage and ran with it, but it captures the spirit of the King novel quite well. David Soul makes a great Ben Mears, Bonnie Bedelia (Bruce Willis's wife in Die Hard) is perfect in the film, James Mason is wonderfully menacing, Fred Willard is a trip, and it's great to see Elisha Cook Jr. and Marie Windsor pair up again after their roles in Kubrick's The Killing.
When the kid sits up in the coffin...oh, man.

This would be great since it only received 1 DVD mastering/release back at the dawn of DVD.

It would be interesting to see the theatrical cut as an extra if possible and have Hooper do a commentary track.

I'm anxiously awaiting the WB The Haunting Blu-ray hoping it turns out great.

I picked up the German The Innocents recently which isn't region coded. Great older movie and a nice looking transfer (although there was a noticeable hair that got in the gate during a single shot--odd).

I realize these aren't Shout titles but they are cool nonetheless.

Wonder if "Darkman" will be a new transfer or the same one that Universal put out a couple of years ago.

They are both made by Canadian filmmakers. And slashers. But yeah, Terror Train was way better.

Republic produced the Scanner Cop films? Great, then there's definitely a chance Olive will release them. They've released just about every film I thought would never see the light of day on BD. Thank goodness for Olive.

Yep. It'll be like $40 for the two of them. If it were Scream could get them, it would be the in the lower $20 range.

Not if you get them from Importcds. Their Olive titles are always up to $10 cheaper than Amazon.

Scream mentioned that there is going to be an announcement today??? Did they specify whether that may be a new title or artwork revealing or something??
