Don't expect to see it anytime soon, Warner has the rights.

Another week, another movie I've never heard of. Not that that's a bad thing.

As for The Burning, I've never seen it but I've been meaning to check it out for a long while now.

What title did they announce? Has anybody seen Re-animator? I can't find it at my local video store and I'm wondering if it is worth buying for $15 on blu ray.

Never heard of The Burning or the titles Shout has announced? You must've been born too late. Like, the mid 90's?

Cmac: you may want to be a bit careful. This is exactly the road Blue Underground went down, and look at them now. Granted, there are more titles yet to be announced, but BU passed on their bigger titles and started releasing their lesser known (and selling) titles and they are all but defunct.

The much-demanded THE VIDEO DEAD (1987) -- with zombies that come out of a TV set - is finally coming out in 2013.

Check back with us next Fri for another release scoop. And keep checking back with us regularly for more release specific details on THE VIDEO DEAD Happy Friday!

Sweet!! I know there are a few of us who called this yesterday, but confirmation tastes oh so sweet!
As for Re-Animator, it's been reviewed here and I know there was a discussion about the PQ. It's been a bit since I read the thread, so you may wanna take a look at that before buying the BD.

Actually...

I have heard of The Burning, I just haven't seen it. I haven't heard of any of the Friday announced titles (until now).

Seems that Shout/Scream have a bit of a fetish with things coming out of tv screens. What's next, Shocker?

I agree 110% I used to love BU they released great cult horror gems and now they suck! I have not bought a film in a while. Lets hope SF does not go down the same road. At least I have a new company releasing horror films again. Alot I have not seen but I will buy them all to support them and all of them look good.

Don't just assume because we aren't announcing what you call "bigger titles" right now that there aren't any.
To some people these are big titles... movie that have never had a U.S. DVD release.
Shout's been in business a long time and it will continue to do so. These aren't are only releases. We release roughly 10 to 15 titles a month.
We aren't going anywhere.

I have heard mixed things about Video Dead, but again it's a title I'll pick up, and I know there have been many clamoring for it for a while. But please cmac, if you have any bigger titles, throw us a bone next week and announce one! It's great to see these lesser known titles finally get a release, but we need a title that everyone has heard of and will buy. Mix it up! Announce The Fog and I promise to keep quiet and just buy all your releases!

For anyone who hasn't seen the Video Dead, it's streaming on Netflix (as is TerrorVision).

Well said, Cliff. I think this is the greatest strength that Scream Factory has going for it. Finally, unearthing so many long forgotten but much beloved films that have never seen a release. I feel like Scream Factory has a very keen sense when it comes to juggling titles that are higher profile that will move many units along with lesser known titles that the hardcore fans will eat up. A nice mixing of both kinds of films will continue to make this line successful. Supporting it with each release, whether you've seen the film or not, is important to ensure its future. I've never seen "The Island" or "The Video Dead" but the first thing that popped into my head was "Finally! Now I can see them and most likely in there definitive home video releases". I think the flicks that Cliff and company have managed to secure for us will have a little something for everybody which is the best anyone could ask for.

This is true, they have fans and I'm sure Cliff and the others at Scream picked them for a reason, so they are definitely at least worth a look. Like I said, I have been a little disappointed as they aren't my most wanted titles but I will grab them either way. Hopefully some of these will be diamonds in the rough, and if they aren't great they will at least help support the titles I like getting released.

Genuinely not trying to flame here... there was a lot of 80s horror I didn't see. Are these films - THE VIDEO DEAD and such - actually good? I know it's a matter of taste but are they good in the sense of deserving some serious re-evaluation? Or are they cheesey, fun good? If you get the distinction.

I bought HALLOWEEN II, III and will buy THE ISLAND, so I'm not Mr Highbrow. But I haven't seen the likes of TERRORVISION and might pick them up if they're decent. But obviously I don't have any nostalgia for them and no particular love of 80s schlock, like LEPRECHAUN or TROLL or stuff like that.

What do you think?

Haven't seen them, myself--but I think they fall in the cheezy fun category. Opinions are definitely all over the place regarding TerrorVision and The Video Dead. Prison, on the other hand, is pretty well regarded for a low budget '80s horror pic.

I hope genre fans don't hate me for this answer, but I'm not sure The Video Dead is your cup of tea. Halloween II/III's production value and overall quality of filmmaking is much higher than The Video Dead. It's much more of a cult classic in the sense that Troll 2 is, not in the sense that Dawn of the Dead is.

The Video Dead is the only film of their recent Friday announcement I've seen, but they all seem to be in the same vain for the most part. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, but I know I'll probably enjoy them myself.

That said, They Live, Fun House, and Terror Train are all films I'd recommend if you enjoy H2/H3.

Hard to say, not really knowing your tastes. But if I were you, I would at least watch the trailers before buying cause they may not be to your liking. Take a look on youtube since you can find more then a trailer there from time to time.
