I'm not disagreeing with your right to have an opinion, nor am I criticizing your particular opinion, I just hate it when people post things like 'That movie was boring' or 'What a piece of crap' without at least briefly elaborating on what was so 'crappy' or 'boring' about it - a weak script, wooden performances, sloppy direction, etc.

Touché.

I will say that I enjoyed Albert Finney's performance but the rest of the film was a muddled mess of preachy environmental messages, red herrings, cop thrillers and Gregory Hines' hammy acting.

There you go! Hines grated on me a bit as well. I'm hoping that he isn't too insufferable in Eve of Destruction, although I am expecting the whole thing to be one big baked ham.

Same with me, and some have the exact opposite effect on me as well. I strongly disliked Psycho 2 in 1983 when I saw it in theaters, however, I recently watched it and I really enjoyed it. Wolfen might fall into that category as well.

I never liked the film either. However, the book was pretty good.

Well, not completely. They dont own the rights to the Legion cut.
Thats with Morgan Creek who are currently working with Shout Factory on NightBreed.

But anything else WB, yeah, not gonna happen, sadly.

I really like that tagline for Ginger Snaps.
"HUNGRY... Like the Wolf!"

The Period tagline, "They don't call it The Curse for nothing" is okay too:

I hope they use the 2nd one for the Reversible Cover. It just looks better.

The Period tagline, "They don't call it The Curse for nothing" is okay too, but I really like the art on this poster better:

I actually kind of hope that they don't use that first poster. It's way too cheesy with the fake looking and goofy wolf and the rest is too photoshopped. Not that I like the other poster…but still.

Wolfen has fantastic footage of the Bronx in ruins from the days when landlords burnt buildings for insurance money. It's worth watching for fans of NYC circa 1980 alone, but is also a fun flick to boot.

I fixed it, I typed it over the wrong image, the second is definitely better.

I'm pretty sure I've had plenty of chances, but I dont think I've ever seen it.

From what people say, It aint so good. Lol. I'd definitely pick it up if it ever was released on blu-ray.

Are there ever any actual werewolves shown in Wolfen?

To each his own. I find it quite watchable and have seen it many times over the years, beginning in the theater during its original theatrical run. The novel was probably the first "adult" novel I ever read, and has a much better and cohesive story than the movie, and is easier to understand as a "werewolf" story than the movie (i.e., the wolfen are the basis for the werewolf legend). All that said, I keep waiting and waiting for someone to put this out as a special edition, but fear it may never happen. Of course, I thought the same about Raise the Titanic.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I believe the "Legion Cut" footage is still long lost. Currently all that exists is a fan Edit.

Quote:
In March 2011 a fan edit called "Legion" appeared on the internet, credited to a fan using the pseudonym Spicediver, which removed all exorcism elements and recreated the main story arc of the director's cut without the use of any lost footage. In 2012 cast member Brad Dourif agreed to present a screening of the fanedit at the Mad Monster Party horror convention held in Charlotte, North Carolina on March 25. Dourif introduced the film and did a Q&A session with the audience afterwards.[17]
I would like the Theatrical version of The Exorcist III on Blu LONG before some chopped up fan edit. If the missing elements were some how found and a brand new cut was to be made using said footage, than I'd be ok with that being released ahead of the Theatrical version, but I fail to see why anyone would want SF to waste their time and effort on an unofficial Fan edit of the film.

Legit didnt know that. In that case, WB should release the damn thing on blu already. My DVD gets a lot of use but the picture quality is just not cutting it.
