No way in hell they'd use the current blu-ray's transfer.

Generally, especially when they are re-releasing films on blu-ray, they dont use transfers that are already branded "sh!tty".
There are some issues inherent to the Dog Soldiers initial transfer but the blu-ray.com review also suggests many picture quality issues are unavoidable because of the budget cost of shooting Dog Soldiers and it's muted color scheme. Maybe Dog Soldiers is Scream Factory's chance to relieve any image quality concerns people have about SF releases by defying the odds but I'm skeptical how much improvement is possible.

Amazon has listed another 4 pack of titles from Scream Factory
The Screaming Skull
The Vampire
The House That Screamed
The Bat People

And to keep the topic blu ray related
Would anyone have liked these movies in HD and I wonder how this holds for the MST3K versions for Bat People and Screaming Skull ....

I've heard that SCREAMING SKULL is from 35MM film elements.

Have no idea what master will be used for HOUSE THAT SCREAMED. That film would make a great Blu-ray if it is letterboxed and uncut. There have been multiple versions of it over the years on home video, but none of those have been definitive.

Just got an e-mail about a sale Shout is running on their site. 10% off a $50 purchase, 15% off a $150 purchase, and 20% off a $300 purchase, with each tier getting free shipping and promo codes for later purchases (along with free gifts included in the higher two tiers).

I went ahead and finally ordered Night of the Comet and Assault on Precinct 13 (along with The Duellists to bring it over $50). It may be a little late but I'm hoping I ordered early enough to get the slipcovers. I'm not as big into slips as others on this site, but I've gotten all the slips for the other Scream titles so far, and I like being able to show off both the new artwork (on the slip) and the original artwork (on the case).

Well, I'm sure we'll see those eventually. While it's almost certainly just a pipe dream, I would imagine that Shout's ultimate goal with the MST3K sets would be to have all the episodes released...

I reserve my HD 'wish list' for titles that I'd watch more than once... Those I might watch out of curiosity or because I'm bored, but they aren't something I see myself re-watching necessarily.

Just to be clear. This is a Movies 4 You set from Timeless. So, technically not Scream. That said, I would not be surprised if The Bat People and/or The Vampire wound up in a double feature BD.

Yep, I would have bought all of these on Blu. This is the kind of stuff I really want, not slashers and the like.

Sorry to go off topic here for a second but I don't feel like starting another thread. Seems someone made a very very convincingly well made throwback horror flick about a local TV station that airs live footage of a paranormal or just plain investigator entering a haunted house and supposedly showing the discoveries live on TV.

Now it's made as if it was taped off TV in 1987 and was recently discovered, check out the very convincing trailer:

It can only be purchased here - http://www.alternativecinema.com/ind...=27&submit.y=6

The special VHS version of it is sold out, so all that's left is the DVD version. Now, God forgive me if this has been posted before, but I thought a lot of people would get a kick out of this. I, myself have still not seen this, I'm waiting to hear more reviews before I shell out $22.99+ S&H on a DVD.

Apparently the VHS's looked god awful, like worse than every other modern VHS, and almost worse than a TV taping from the 80's.

Some of them I heard even showed up blank!

Looks pretty fun and cool.

That's the way they should be doing Amityville: The Lost Tapes

Interesting. Sounds a bit like the infamous mockumentary GHOSTWATCH which aired to an unsuspecting public on BBC in 1992 and was never repeated again because of the furore it caused. Worth watching.

Considering they don't exactly have a reputable distributor or one I've ever heard of before, I guess I'm not surprised. Now I'm questioning if I'd ever even go for the DVD, especially the price they're asking.

If you got a no-budget film very few people have heard of my train of thought would tell me to price it reasonably lower so more people are willing to take a chance on a blind-buy and maybe that buys you good word of mouth which can be priceless.

I hate to go back on topic of slipcovers here, but I just noticed my copy of "Assault..." came with a slip that feels like the normal cardboard slips they've been dishing out since they started and now today I got my copy of "Night of the Comet" and it's one of those slips like my "Body Bags" slip, where the finish is like slick or sleek or whatever you wanna call it.

I'm just starting to think whatever manufacturer is producing these things is just using whatever they have on hand, I don't see the logic of "Shout!/Scream Factory" going back and worth using different finishes on their slipcovers.

Not looking to start WWIII here, just making an observation.

Weird. My slip for NOTC was matte finish, not glossy. I don't collect them though and just tossed it.

Ghost Watch is a fun experience worth checking out for sure. I watched it this past summer for the first time after Learning about it (I'm in the US, not in the UK where it originally aired). It's certainly dated, and parts of it just ooze cheese, but the underlying idea and the method with which it aired are pure genius and fun. It's certainly worthy of being remembered and watched from time to time as it was REALLY far ahead of it's time.

Very odd. It must be just a total gamble and "Shout!/Scream Factory" is accepting whatever the manufacturer of the slipcovers is giving them. I'm not complaining, I don't even care that they aren't consistently the same type of finish, I'm just curious why this is and if someone at the company would address it.

I'm almost positive it started happening with the release of "Body Bags." I wonder if they decided to go with a different company who makes slipcovers starting with the release of "Body Bags"?
