I love the idea of the Doctor Who season sets, but can I ask that you revisit the title logo? It looks like you've taken a png and just done a color overlay or something, because the letters are slightly too fat. It will probably be a PITA, but you might be better served taking the time to do a pen-tool cutout and then filling that in to get it to be the right size and kerning.

It's a minor point, because the rest of the pieces look great, but I find it slightly distracting.

If you get to the 5th/4th doctors, I can probably share some materials with you from some projects I've done where I've basically had to do what I'm describing.

Definitely would love a link when you're done.

With Docs 1 and 2 I would advise only including the stories that exist and pretend nothing's missing, but that's me.

I acutally was doing it with the Pen Tool... I was thinking about using the classic logo they put on the classic covers (which is available in good quality) but I like how much 80's is McCoy era logo, so I decided to pen tool it from a crappy vhs screen shot. I'll probably work on it.

I still have to design the back covers for those. And buy the dvds... Oh, and also this is designed to be in blu-ray case, so it will fit my NuWho BD collection. But I think I'll do a DVD size file if somebody would like to use them as well.

Oh, and here is the final McCoy cover and how would they look together.

I will move picture on the second spine bit lower, cause now I see they not at the same hights...

I am a fan of the classic "Dr. Who" series who has had some trouble stomaching the changes in the revival the past decade or so, and never been able to get back into it.

However over the past few years I have been steadily collecting the classic series on DVD.

So I was excited to see someone putting together covers for the classic episodes. However, if I was creating the covers I would have gone for the more traditional classic "Dr. Who" logo. Purely subjective I know....just my preference.

I do plan on getting back into the custom cover game, but frankly I've been satisfied with my most recent Blu-ray purchases (Breakheart Pass, Great Train Robbery and Private Life of Sherlock Holmes) including the classic poster art on their covers (thank you Kino Lober).

Still, great work r.sienicki. Thanks for sharing

During my attempts of making Season sets I have always opted for just using the full color logos. If you need it, I have have transparencies of all of the era-specific logos.

Not a huge blockbuster, but Wimbledon is a an above average romcom with Paul Bettany and Kirsten Dunst. It's been released in the UK by Universal and Studio Canal (with a pretty terrific transfer) on a region-free Blu-ray. Typical UK cover. Here is a US-style custom sized for standard 11/12 mm cases. Available at EuphoricFX.org of PM me an email address.

For a second I was confusing that with Match Point and thought, "What? Romcom?"

I made a custom cover for Halloween 6: Producer's Cut. If anyone wants the full hi res file, PM me. The file/resolution in the image below is significantly reduced.

Cheers!

Viva Elite (1 to 3 discs)

10 & 13/20" x 5 & 7/8"
3190 x 1760 px @ 300 ppi
Panels 1520 px each, spine 150 px
Actually the standard would be what the Mfg recommends as each Mfg has a recommended inlay size for every case they produce example.

Viva Elite's recommended inlay size for a 1-3 Disc 12.5mm case is here:
http://www.viva-elite.com/pdf/12.5mm_inlay.pdf

They say the overall size is:
264mm Wide X 148mm Tall with a 12mm Spine Width

Which works out to:
264mm = 3118 pixels @300dpi
148mm = 1748 pixels @300dpi
12mm = 142 pixels @300dpi

You can enter those mm sizes into Photoshop @300dpi and it will create a 3118 X 1748 sized image.

This is the size used by design houses when creating print ready art for studios here is a 12.5mm Elite R1 LG sample:

Now this sample has bleed as all commercial printers require it but if you line up with the cut registration marks located outside the printed area it will work out to 3118 X 1748.

This is where all the sizes listed in this post came from they are based on the Mfg recommended sizes for inlay artwork.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=16461

Will other sizes work sure most are pretty close as pixels are tiny fractions of an inch changes plus people have different views on what 'fits' based on taste, Mfgs tend to allow for a loose fit, this post is not intended to advocate any specific sizes, it just meant to note that there is in fact a reference size for all cases that is set out by the Mfgs.

So, is there anyone planning on doing indidual art for Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist? For those that want to break up the Anthology into individual cases I mean. Nothing fancy, something like this...

Hmm...I think maybe the issue is that you went from the outside of the "WHO" instead of the inner bevel. You just need a bit more space I think between those letters--they look a bit swollen or something. I do like the monochrome look for the title, personally, and I agree with you that they should have their era-specific logos.

Everything else looks great, btw. I know first-hand how few resources there are out there for doing this in any kind of large scale format.

I will try something, but I actually like that swollen WHO.

In the meantime I tried to do Peter Davison first season. It's not easy to get rid of the titles from original posters. I think I did too much fire on that one, but Im starting to like it with time.

And the work in progress of 24th season back cover.

Well, I'm not out to replicate the studios' decisions, but simply find the best actual fit for the cases in question. That means getting it snug on all sides, without causing any wrinkles. The numbers I came up with do exactly that.

My first shot at creating a blu-ray cover, I suspect the specs I found online are incorrect but that's easy to fix later.

Anyway in regards to the lack of technical information and other info on the back cover, there is no single distributor and only 2/3 have been released on blu.
the rest are DVD. Besides that I like the nice clean look. Many of my DVD covers are minimalist but the main reason is I don't really have the patience to add that stuff anyway.

Fair enough

I just pointed out the fact there 'is a standard recommended size'.

Might note too, that no cover site will accept any cover in the sizes you listed, so if anyone wanted to share covers they have made via a cover site they will have issue getting them accepted if they use those sizes.

Some of my covers have been accepted at CustoManiacs, without alterations.

I never said your sizes would not work only that they were different and that going with a recommend size will insure acceptance everywhere.

My latest Blu-Ray cover from Nissen.

This is going to look great on the shelf next to my Scream Factory Blu-Rays of Psycho II and III:

I always use the EuphoricFX size whenever I put together a custom...which I admit has not been for awhile.

CustoManiacs is a little more liberal than most sites, once you are approved you can pretty much post anything. I learned that lesson the hard way when I made a lot of customs that were accepted on CM but were refused on other sites.

Anyone did custom covers for the Twin Peaks BD collection? My boxset is falling apart so I'm placing the discs into separate cases.
