You have my vote.
In fact, I know the Fox Sports people, from experience, believe that any frame rate less than 100/120 fps for 8K produces too much motion blur for running players in American football, I’m just not sure if they’re willing to go on record and say so.
b.t.w., that’s a cool cat avatar…..wearing a Special Forces shemagh is he/she?

About the next Summer Olympics ...
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/20...irus-threatens

If it's a no go it's a no no for HDR (4K & 8K) as well.

I'm no expert on viruses, I just read the news like everyone else.
But this is no ordinary situation...in the world.
Many many concerts and sports events have been cancelled so far, and it's not over ...

And this, is no ordinary ...

As someone who would love the Edinburgh Fringe to be cancelled. It's more likely the warmer weather, or a vaccination which starts human trials in April will prevent such a scenario.

Note to Craig M: I hope that BT Sport was at least able to capture the 8K imagery at 100p and then down convert to 50p for recording and downstream feed to somewhat mitigate the motion blur, but the reporter’s article doesn’t go into such detail with regards to the fps workflow.

Yeah, I heard about that several years back. They built a track specially (it wasn’t there beforehand) for that filming next to the ocean in central Cali and it is true ‘one shot’, meaning one take.
I remember the tune also in - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHn1zogeyO4#t=36s

This study - https://www.techhive.com/article/352...ifference.html , concluded that native 8k (displayed) is only marginally better than 4k in terms of perceived detail as viewed on one brand of 8k TV.

And did not answer really the most relevant question to potential buyers/users, namely –

So, stay tuned in June for the answer to that and more - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=326189

Also, on a side note, with regards to purely assessing spatial resolutions, Michael et. al.’s test would have been more accurate if the scenes had been from true 4k (not derived from 8k) and then compared side by side to native 8k.

P.S.
b.t.w., definition of a double blind study - https://www.verywellmind.com/what-is...-study-2795103

So, does that mean that Pixar, Amazon Prime Video, LG, the ASC and Warner Bros. did not know which content was being displayed during the test? Then who did (in order to set up the experiment)?

Because, for one thing, starting with 8k as the resolution source to make 4k is giving 4k every advantage. In essence, it’s producing the best 4k possible. Would have been more valid to start with a real 4k source and assess from there in a 4k vs. 8k comparison. Years ago, this was also noted by another color scientist during a long, advanced discussion with regards to 6K and 2k derived from 6k. I’ll see if I can dig up the judgement later.

I seen this. What I find most worrying is how many people working in Chinas labs sell dead diseased animals. China really needs to come clean, this should be their Glasnot moment so the rest of the world can help them.

Easier said than done. China is far from being Russia though. A culture of isolation going back thousands of year's.

Seriously, what has really surprised people, including world class Infectious Disease Docs is that despite the Corona virus not believed to be airborne-capable, nevertheless is so very, very contagious.

In other words, unlike something like measles which can live in the air for a couple hours, it is believed that COVID 19 can only live in the air if housed in a respiratory droplet, which is temporary.
