It is only visible in red/yellow and various shades of those. 95% of the time watching HDR movies I can't see it. But occasionally, in say, Star Trek Beyond when there is a red or yellow uniform and the shot is panning I will notice it. Or the opening of Die Hard with it's dusky opening shots, or alot of Mad Max Fury Road with it's reddish desert landscape. On non HDR content it is way more obvious. For instance in Star Trek TNG on Netflix the solid red and yellow uniforms are horribly distracting (and pretty much unwatchable) because the DSE is visible through them. There is also some very slight vertical banding but it is very minor compared to examples I've seen online. The DSE is worse. I have my old Vizio FALD still here going to be repaired Tuesday so I may sell it and return the Sony and spring for an LG B8. I got the Sony open box at Best Buy, so it was cheaper than the LG even though it's a better model. So that's a tough call because the Sony is supposed to be a bit better than the LG B8. I could potentially keep the Sony and just ignore the problem when it pops up 10% of the time on HDR movies (which is 90% of my viewing) but it's a tough call. Apparently panel lottery is a real thing and who knows if I end up with a worse set. |

I had the chance of getting the panel replaced but opted not to because the 3D is reference quality and the replacement panel was 2D. |

And now this. Reading up online it seems almost every set has some kind of issue (some just more visible than others). It's a real bummer because the technology is amazing. OLED is breathtaking. I will cycle through Fury Road and The Martian when I get home.to see how much I can tolerate as both those movies have alot of desert scenes. |

on thee other hand, personally, I would be careful to imply that the Apple "Pro" Display XDR is equal in picture quality to a Sony BVM X300 reference monitor or the features of the 3,000 nit Flanders master monitor –

Imagine a panel that can reach thousands of nits but you can turn off specific pixels (infinite contrast) and be able to watch anything you want for any length of time. That will be the dominant TV technology, no question. |

he's been involved early on in the development of the Venice, which one of the reasons chosen was for its special shutter which helped keep things looking as non-distorted as possible while capturing Mav in the scenes aerially at speed, after he received his training - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...g#post16499412
