Counting down to the day when people post their disappointment at all the things this new spinoff never pretended to be, but somehow people expected it to be anyway...

I'm looking forward to it myself!

I wonder if this will be able to break Better Call Saul's record for the biggest cable premiere ever. The Walking Dead is certainly bigger than Breaking Bad was, but Better Call Saul had The Walking Dead as a lead-in.

I don't think it will be as huge of a hit like TWD is. Although, it is TV's most anticipated new series (according to Entertainment Weekly). My guess is it'll get somewhere between 6-8.5mil viewers.

Why do you say that? I would think that everyone who watches the TWD will watch Fear? They have been hyping it forever.

However when they air it so many times in the same night that effects the ratings, I already plan on DVRing the 2nd showing at 10:30PM and then watching it later.

They definitely took inspiration from the church scene in 28 Days Later.

Sometimes spin-offs of very popular shows never take off. CSI's, Criminal Minds etc. No matter how popular the original show is some spin-offs are just DOA.

I doubt FTWD will get canceled or do bad. But it may not do as good as TWD does or even come close. Or it could do better, who knows.

I think it's pretty safe that it won't do better since TWD does so ridiculously good in the ratings. I'd be shocked if this didn't do good at least though.

I'm giving it a shot, but I have low expectations. So it could actually be good for me

I really enjoy the TWD series... Although I was surprised it survived after that pitiful second season. I think if they can get Fear past the 1st season, it'll be a hit. Too many will cite there's no Rick, Daryl or Michonne and it will take some time to develop this series. Question will be is when will Fear be airing regularly? This will only be about 6-8 episodes, so I will expect them to lay the foundation this year and hopefully they can return in June to keep both TWD and Fear fresh. I have low expectations for this

I'm really excited for this. I may end up liking it more than The Walking Dead (slim chance, but who knows). I liked the first season of Better Call Saul more than the first season of Breaking Bad.

From what I read, 14 episode Season 2 of Fear has already been greenlit for next year.

The plan is to air the first half of Fear in August and the first half of TWD in October. Then air the second half of Fear during Walking Dead's break and when that season finishes, the second half of TWD will air.

That's 30 episodes worth of zombies in the span of August to April.

Anticipation is building Can't wait. Hopefully it is not just a different way of packaging TWD but has elements that are completely fresh, or else both series will suffer. I know, there has to be zombies

To put it this way, it will be the same show but with inexperienced survivors. They're not all badasses like Rick, Daryl and Michonne. They learn as they go and make costly mistakes.

Nobody knows that noises attract walkers, nobody knows that in order to kill an infected it needs a head shot, nobody has this gained knowledge like the characters on The Walking Dead do. They're going into the apocalypse with just their common sense and no guidance. Should make for an interesting series.

The first season will be different as we get to see the zombies rise and civilization fall. Season 2 could be the same as it becomes another show about a group of people trying to survive.
