I really don't think they'd announce going Blu-exclu until after Christmas though, like at CES 2008.

Maybe the P/DW announcement changed all that?

I wouldn't get my hopes up, that way you won't be let down.
Doby, the thing that gets me is, you always seem to have the inside track on Warner stuff and you've never metioned anything about this.

If the said person was to really start something up, don't ya think he would have posted on a site like AVS or HD Digest, just to stir the pot up, and see what happens on there.

This topic is really going fast. Definitely didn't expect it. Anyways few more things worth mentioning:

A)For those of you calling me a fraud or hoax, you guys are acting based on logic and this is good. However that's how big things happen; very silent and quiet. There are less than 24 hours to wait and it is certainly going to be clear what is the truth. But I say it again "You heard it first here"

B)yes BDA is not only Sony. There are other comapnies within BDA dedicated to the success of Blu-ray. Sony has been doing the major work for Disc replicaiton (due to their vast experience in DADC) but Panasonic has been very active in supporting and developing Blu-ray as well. Disney tour is a good example. Phillips is doing major of their support in europe to gather support (which has been extremely successful I should say). Last but not least, do you think Warner would have accepeted this deal if there was no long term benefit in it? I highly doubt it. Warner is a pioneer in optical media, unlike some other studios which are more "incentive" driven.

C)As for tracking my computer, lets just say I have to somehow protect my job; I dont want to deliver good news and be fired tomorrow

That part about Warner is true, they were the first one to release movies on DVD. The rest of Hollywood were highly skeptical of the DVD format at first.

Exactly. Also, as evidence that it IS all BS, would someone risk their job for that pride? I wouldn't think so. Still, what a dick.

Well, the Paramount/DW (Viacom) deal seemed to have been a well kept secret until it hit the press. So if execs in WB isnt aware of decisions made by the BoD that wouldnt be new would it? I would -guess- that this level of decision is made by the BoD and not lower in the system?

Anyway, I'm not getting my hopes up. I'll sleep well tonight

But IF it did happen I think the "format war" (AND "forum war ) would be over.

you know...what you say has a ring of truth to it. for now, i gotta leave this alone because its going to eat at me for the next 14 or so hours... so i'm going to go distract myself. ...but before i do, and i think this is the point that you're making: either way, whether its true or NOT...it was a suck move because of what you're putting people through. if its news thats going to be out tomorrow, let it be. let us wake up and experience it fresh. no need to announce it and put people through rollercoaster speculation mode. and if its untrue, then that's just evil. in this sense, to increase in knowledge is to truly increase in sorrow... suck. see you tomorrow. (hd d-day)

Cut the guy some slack. Tomorrow I believe everyone here will be patting him on the back. The end of the format war is in sight again and DUD is about to be 6 feet under.

Exactly. There's SO MUCH MONEY TO BE MADE this Christmas if only this format war was over. Until there's a winner, most consumers will sit on the fence. So everyone involved would be a lot better off to end the war before the holidays.
