Moderator note: All the editions of Hugo released by Paramount (USA, Australia, Scandinavia etc) are reportedly REGION FREE. The UK and French editions have different distributors and are REGION B LOCKED. Arrow are releasing a UHD edition in the US and that is likely to be REGION A LOCKED.

Just came back from the film as well. Definitely the best use of 3D to tell a story(documentaries don't count, and Transformers 3 had no story) since Avatar. The film was beautiful and quite sincere. As a film lover, the film really hit me on a personal level.
The 3D was never gimmicky and always natural. There's lots of fun shots where the depth is used well or objects are left in the foreground, but people never try to stab you in the eye with a corn-on-the-cob. It's also a beautiful film by itself, and that's saying something since the majority of 3D films are awful sequels or mindless popcorn movies. I really can't wait to see this at home. My theaters' 3D had some ghosting, but I know I would t see that at home(I have a DLP) and I think Scorsese was conscious of how people can now watch 3D at home. Many shots from scenes I refuse to spoil, feature a sort of "diorama" like presentation whichll look amazing on a tv. Easily one of my favorite films this year, and one I'd actually see with the entire family(Drive and Tree of Life arent really what I'd show to children) |

For some reason I thought Titanic in 3D was simply plain. It did have depth in few scenes but many scenes shown in the theatre looked the same with/without glasses.

hopefully their will be a date for the 3d blu ray release soon, i have looked all over the web and theirs no info yet.
you would guess it would come out at the same time as the 2D but perhaps their going to be greedy and try to get people to double dip Last edited by deano; 01-24-2012 at 07:37 PM. |

Pre-Ordered the 3D + Blu Combo when it hit $27.99
I don't even have a 3D TV, nor do I plan on getting one any time soon... But this movie was the greatest use of 3D that I have ever seen, and I know one day I will watch this baby in 3D again, so might as well have it and not have to buy it again then as well. And oh yeah, I like the Cover Art for the 3D much better. Best Film of the Year. |

Not knocking the movie at all, but this isn't one like Transformers 3 or Avatar where the studio would milk it and get people to double dip. 99.9% of non-exclusive 3D releases come out on the same day as their 2D counterparts. |
