It's hard to think of a better choice than the one they made. While I have yet to see The Orphanage (I really want to), The Impossible was great. I highly enjoyed the first World War Z, so after this, I'm really looking forward to the sequel.

World war z was garbage in my opinion. I was really looking forward to it, but it was a major let down. I hated it!

And yet...

Brad Pitt & Brad Grey Break Up: Plan B to Exit Paramount

I wonder if this sequel is going to end a pipe dream, and being tossed out like the supposed Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters sequel that will probably end up direct to video.

Well, Indy going over to Disney was inevitable with the Lucasfilm deal.

Plan B is not a split on bad terms, but after how World War Z spiraled out of control, budget wise, and apparently there's something up with how 12 Years a Slave was shopped, it almost seems like this was going to happen.

Yeah, I may just be about done with any theater-going, unless the film in question is pretty much undeniably something I'll enjoy more; hopefully much, much more than WWZ. Its too expensive to go otherwise.
That's exactly what I thought of, and I 100% agree with you on that! LOL!

Oscar-nominated scribe Steven Knight has been tapped to write Paramount and Skydance’s sequel to “World War Z,” sources confirm.

J.A. Bayona (“The Impossible”) will direct the zombie sequel, with Brad Pitt returning in the starring role.

Plot details are unknown, but the film is expected to continue the story of Max Brooks’ popular novel.

Pitt will produce the apocalyptic tentpole alongside Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner for Plan B.

The hiring of Knight comes weeks after it was announced that Pitt was in early talks to star in an untitled World War II romantic thriller, also written by Knight. That project does not have a distributor.

“World War Z,” directed by Marc Forster, earned more than $540 million worldwide in 2013 and is the highest-grossing film of Pitt’s career.

Knight most recently helmed Tom Hardy in “Locke” and was nominated for an Oscar in 2004 for “Dirty Pretty Things.”

He is repped by CAA and United Agents.

Considering how the first movie turned out, I kinda doubt that.

I'd like to see it be from the point of view of another character and there are plenty of them to choose from. Hell they could pick a chapter from the book, choose the character that lived through the Zombie occupation but expand it out a bit to give them backstories and have multiple sequels.

I really canīt see how Sequel can happen. I mean they found cure, Zombies no attack anymore.

So, 20% world population is now alive, they live with zombies, and with cure, they kill all the zombies... and then in sequel something happens and those 20% world population who is left has to fight against zombies ONCE AGAIN...

I think Original ending was better where they were in Russia, and zombies slowed down because cold and big snow slowed them and killed those zombies. It would be more interesting where in cold places you in safe, but in south, its all hell and impossible to survive. There was no cure.

In short:

Original version: There is no cure. Only cold can slow infected down.
Final version: Human population is almost dead. People found cure, killed all infected. In sequel there is new virus and once again we have same stuff over again...

There was never a cure, the infected just wouldn't attack the ones with terminal illnesses, so they came up with a vaccine that would stop the attacks. They never found the cause of the infection, which means they couldn't begin work on a cure, which I'm guessing would be the focus of the second film.

So, they donīt have a cure, but humans and infected live together?
I wanted World War Z ended like 28 weeks later, but instead we got Happy ending where humans won, and sequel will talk about how humans and infected live together... eh..

I guess im not interested in sequel then. I wanted horror movie, instead we got joke..

Sorry, but they have to start following the damned novel before they can continue it.

Edited to add: Please, God, no more ant-hive-physicality for the "pseudo-zombie-infected-that-are-never-actually-seen-chomping-on-anyones-face-goddam-PG13-zombies".

They don't live together, the infected are still hostile, chances are if they go into a sequel, it'll be done with the idea that masses of infected are being rounded up before they wise up to the vaccine, which leads to a race before time runs out to find a proper cure before another outbreak which could lead to extinction.

I agree with you, the new ending is poop, but it's definitely not finite when it comes the sequel.

I thought the movie was good. Just hope the sequel doesn't burn any bridges. Brad Pitt has been in some great flicks. He wanted to push it through almost immediately after the first one, but I hope he doesn't just rely on the premise of a story rather than the actual story in script.

WZME (worst zombie movie ever)

and I stand by that because I've seen some pretty low budget and bad bad zombie movies.
