Ok. Let me try this again.
Most movies were never aimed to be look sharp on HDTVs. A decade ago, movies were filmed and projected in film. Few would ever notice about the digital clarity of the visuals.

It isn't until recent years where HDTVs become more common and Blu-rays start to penetrate the mainstream market that we finally see filmmakers and studios making more effort to improve in this area. If people knew the video look crap, who would want to plunge in on Blu-ray purchases?

If anyone has any screenshots of the new Glory transfer, they would be greatly appreciated. The original Blu had a solid 4 star transfer, but I'm always eager for improvement as it's one of my favorite movies.

I just saw the Spider-man comparisons - Wot in the world the difference is almost night and day. It makes the previous version look like an upscaled DVD!! Just when you thought you've seen everything I mean!

Problem is there's no way to get this in Canada yet. Amazon.ca is all the sudden went "unavailable". Did anyone order through there or did it all the sudden said unavailable?

Yep exactly what I said. It comes down to best value for money and its made a lot easier if the previous existing transfer is already pretty good in its own right.

The UV ones usually do. The worst stickers are the blue ovals that say "CAN BE PLAYED IN YOUR PS3!!!" as well as Best Buy and Walmart's price stickers.

Wow. I will definitely be picking this one up. The close-up of Mary Jane really shows the improvement in fine detail. I never liked the original transfer in the first place, so this is definitely the one for me!

Are there comparisons for other titles besides Spider-Man and Ghostbusters? I think I'll get Taxi Driver if there's a noticeable difference, especially since I only paid $5 for the Digipack.

Hopefully The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo gets a Mastered in 4K release!

Discs like Ghostbusters and Glory were hardly "crappy" to begin with, by the standard of when they were released. The vast majority of the catalog titles on the format have ample room for improvement, scanning everything at 4K from the OCN is not a practical reality (as much as I wish it was).

The first comparsen shows a nice improvement in fine detail, colour and sharpness, the other 2 shots are not so glaring. Better resolved grain though across the board with the bumped up bit rate and codec.

FYI I don't even own the orignal Blu-Ray or DVD, just on VHS which I bought shortly after watching it in theaters. I still own it too.

The World Of Sony 4k Trailer .M2ts that is on the Ghostbusters Blu-ray. Its Got some clips on "mastered in 4k releases". I don't know if the trailer it self has a high bit rate but here it is.
