I didn't notice it with BP but I had noticed that at my local Theater for Infinity War, for some reason Infinity War's Audio was Quieter in the Theater.

Cap 1's audio gives me hope that the movies that were originally Paramount's will escape unscathed when Disney inevitably remixes them. EDIT: Avengers 1, too. Maybe it's a placebo effect but A1's UHD definitely sounded better to me than Ultron's, even though the latter was still an improvement over the BD's mix.

Is anyone else having issues watching in Dolby Vision with this movie? Not only are the black levels elevated but the peak brightness has been clearly reduced. Would turn DV On/Off, noticing HDR10 signal produces brighter brights and darker blacks than DV.

Watching with Sony’s UBX700 player and SONY HTZ9F soundbar, both updated with latest firmware and supposedly Dolby Vision compatible, all connected to Sony’s XBR55930E, also adV compatible.

I'm experiencing elevated blacks across the board with Dolby Vision.
I have and OLED and the entire premise is contrast is infinite because black is created by pixels literally being switched off so I'm confused by the elevated blacks. With 3D (no Dolby Vision) the blacks are inky so it's definitely a DV problem.

Peak brightness definitely takes a hit on my ZD9 in DV as well, not just for BP but in general. I mean this is what tone mapping has to do in order to manage highlights, balancing the range with the brightness, but it seems to damp down luminance too much vs what the TV can actually handle. For most movies it's not an overtly noticeable issue because they have enough peak brightness in reserve OR I don't want them to be blasting out with mega blinding peaks anyway, but every now and then it stands out as just being too darned dim. And yes, the Dolby greyblack issue is also very much in evidence on my ZD9 too.

How on earth did this pile of Bleep get so much praise? I have been watching the Marvel movies in the Marvel Universe timeline and got to this one. I haven't even made it half way through and I am bored and disgusted with the movie! Same old lazy BS revenge, kill everything in my path, betray all the principles of the power I want, the good guy will miraculously come back to resolve, b-rated movie writing. Absolutely terrible movie I will have in the background while I look for a real movie. There is not enough words, especially with out cursing, to express my distaste in this excuse of a movie. I haven't hated a movie this much with a need to vent since Daddy's Home.

Fortunately, there are so many things in life that are overrated yet still very good.

I thought the movie was fantastic. The movie starts slowly but once Killmonger is introduced the movie takes off. Admittedly, the CG goes to crap in the third act but I think that is down to scheduling and the 'A-team' being on Infinity War and I was so engrossed in the movie the CG didn't bother me that much. If you don't like the movie, fine, but for me and what I want in a movie, Black Panther ticked my boxes.

With regards to home presentation, the 3D and 4k (Dolby Vision) are among the best Disney has produced. I have 5.1 so the sound wasn't an issue for me.

It amuses me when some people complain about how superficial the MCU is, but when a movie like Black Panther actually does go the extra mile, they scoff that at that too.

I think the only thing that lets Black Panther down is the **** poor CG at the end. It's a shame because Wakanda is immaculately realized. I think if Disney had realized how much money the movie would make they would have spent more on the CG. Other than that, I think the narrative, themes, world-building, and characters are all top-notch. For me, Killmonger second only to Thanos, with regards to the villain. A villain with a clear motivation and layers.

With regards to the poor CG ending, I think Cooglar should have rewritten the ending so the climax didn't involve CG. It should have been a battle of ideologies between Killmonger and T'Challa rather than a CG fistfight.

Yes. Contrive an excuse to shut off Black Panther's and Killmonger's nano suits and have them fight in the fields of Wakanda with the Wakandians looking on.

I give Coogler a pass on the CG. It's his first big-budget movie and if he wanted to focus more on other aspects of the movie (like world-building, writing, etc.), then fair enough. He made the right choice.
