I have a Panasonic TH-50pz80u and have noticed two very disturbing things on networks that run in HD and was wondering if someone had fixes for them.
When I'm watching a network channel, ABC for instance, on their HD channel, there's a small white bar that runs the length of the screen across the top of the picture that's a pixel or two wide. It's only at the top. It doesn't show up on all HD network channels, but most. the other issue is the sound cuts out every 10-15 seconds for a second or two. It was unnerving at first, but i've almost grown accustomed to it. I'm guessing both problems are the inadequacies of the network trying to display a mediocre quality HD picture since neither of these problems occur on the normal channel (regular vs hd). I don't know if these are settings i've just not discovered yet and can be fixed or i have to just grin and bear it. thanks |

The white bar/line is just overscan. Sometimes they put the subtitle information there (you can see black and white blocks alternating). Your only choices are deal with it or change to a different picture mode on your set that zooms in slightly. Your set is just displaying the picture they're broadcasting.
Unless your audio cuts out while watching other HD content (such as BD's) it's not a setting or your system, it's the bandwidth and compression. I would call your cable provider and complain. |

Strich:
Aramis is right- it is an overscan of the signal. However, I have a 800 model, and in the advanced TV settings there is a HD Size. HD Size 1 scans 95% of the signal and will not show those lines you are talking about. HD Size 2 scans 100% of the signal and that is where the lines are coming from. I am not familiar with your model, so I am not sure if you have this setting, so you might want to check it out. Good news is, there is nothing wrong with your TV. |

I get the white bars if I turn Dot by Dot mode while watching HD channels. So I usually have it set to Full mode. But mine's a Pio but am guessing thats whats happening with your Panny too! Yeah like Mike said, good news is that your TV is fine!
