Default 5.1 analog or coaxial hookup for sound?

I will be getting the new sony player any day now and was wondering...I have used coax for DD and DTS in the past. But I can do 5.1 or 6.1 analog hookup as well. Which way produces better sound? Can I hook up both ways and choose which input to use on the receiver based on the individual film?

of course u can choose which way, but realize that coax does not output the new audio format on blu ray which is PCM(too much data for coax). for DD, dts of old, i use coaxial, but for the PCM, DD True HD, and DD+, use the analog outputs, and ur reciever should have a button or option to switch to analog inputs. MIne does anyways.

ps, I'm gonna get the sony as well, hope it is good

If you use an optical cable which is the best setting for the BluRay?
PCM or Bitstream? I have a Panasonic BD10.

Henry.
