Optical vs. Analog Sound Outputs - Blu-ray Forum

Hey everyone.... I have a question that I have already searched about...

I have a PS3 and want to know what will give me the best sound to my older "home theatre in a box" PCM sounds much better though analog left and right outputs.... Would upgrading to a Optical digital cable give me a better sound then the regular left and right outputs?

I know PCM is only 2 ch on Optical and just wanted to know if it would be better...

I plan on getting a 7.1 receiver with HDMI in the future.. I just bought the new tv and need to save up again for a while......

Optical will give you a purely digital path to the reciever, but it will still only be 2.0 PCM..... I recommend that you take a big dump on that "home theater in a box" and get something new IMMEDIATELY!!! You are in for quite an improvement!!
