Default 2:35:1 & 2:40:1, is there a difference

Just curious, are these two versions of widescreen essentially the same thing. I've noticed this for a couple of years, but I really can't see the difference in the two.

Also, I'm a huge fan of Widescreen. I love, so this isn't a hater's thread, just wondering if anyone knows if there's a difference (I can definitely see the difference in 1:85:1 and 2:35:1 ratios).

I'd say about 0.05:1 or 2% difference in aspect ratio.

another obvious difference between 1.85 and 2.35 are the theatres that either expand the screens or drop the screens down to 2.35, the latter always feels like a jip.

There not the same, though for all intensive purposes they are (the difference is so small you'll be unlikely to notice it, even in a scope set-up).

The black bars at the top and bottom of your screen should be ever so slightly larger with a 2.40:1 ratio as opposed to a 2.35:1 ratio.

Take the Sleeping Beauty BD for instance. Its aspect ratio is 2.55:1, and produces even larger black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.
