Default Need advice on SXRD

Okay heres the deal. I am in the market for a 1080P. I have a 42 Sony 720P and Im looking to upgrade. Sears has last years SXRD model in the 50" for $1400 bucks. The cheapest Ive seen it anywhere was about $1700 (but its an online retailer and I had buying large items online because if there are problems its so much easier to return to store) for this years model, so I know its a good deal. My question is, does anyone know if there are any major upgrades in the new SXRD and/or defects in last years model.

Well thats basically it, is it worth getting the the 06 model or should I get off my wallet and buy the 07 model.

Thanks for any info you can give

I've had that tv for like 6 months now. I work in the warehouse in best buy and deal with the service sendings of tv's and have never seen an sxrd that needed repaired or heard problems with it. The only difference from last years model and this years is the black trim from what I was told and could see. For that price it is a deal and I would get it asap (cheaper than my employee price at the time I bought it).

I'm not sure what they added (or took away?) but we are very happy with our SXRD. Even the wife was behind getting one and loves it..not the kind of stuff she usually gets too excited about.

I believe the next gen SXRD can do 1080p24 via 120Hz. And the black trim on the XBR series is just...

There is no difference between last year's and this year's SXRD model except for the border. Last year's model had a silver trim and this year's has a black trim. The picture of the A2000 and A2020 is the same 1080p output. I'd personally go with it for the price. But, like someone did say, there is another model soon to come out from Sony that will support a different frequency and supposedly have the 'newest / best picture'. Of course, this new model will be priced higher and I'm not sure how much of a difference you will be able to see in the PQ. I'd go with last year's SXRD for that price. Just my 2 cents... Best of luck to you.

i've got the SXRD 55A2000, fantastic TV.
when i was buying it the salesman was pushing for me to spend a little more and get the newer 55A2020 model. he said the newer model had a few improvements: PiP, improved vertical viewing angle, and slot for a cable card. i didn't much care for any of those features so i didn't get it. i can say the A2000 series doesn't have card slot or PiP, but i can't say about the A2020.

Awesome, thanks for all the advice. Now I just gotta convince the wife. I think shes sold on it, Im at work but I talked to her today and she said and I quote..."we'll talk about it tonight and if its still there tomorrow you can get it" lol...hope that means yes, it sounded optimistic.

Shes just upset cuz the 42 is only about 6 months old and cant believe Im already looking to upgrade.

Anyhow, Im sold on it...one question does this model not support 1080P at 24fps?

I agree with you but will add one thing: the components inside the 2020 model are also 1 year NEWER than the 2000. This might not seem like a big deal (and it isn't for most folks), but I used to work in the microchip business and it gave me peace of mind.

Plus, when I walked into Best Buy, pointed at the 2020 50" and said, "I saw this online for $1599," the salesman shrugged and said, "OK, we'll match it." It was $1999 at the time, so I couldn't believe it. I think it was Abe's of Maine that had it on promo.

Couldn't be happier with this TV. I have it hooked up to a TiVo Series 3 HD, an Oppo 970 upconverting DVD, an Onkyo TX-SR804 with 5.1 and it just rocks my world.
