Thumbs down 2 problems with my computer

Recently I was outside using my computer when it started raining and some of the water hit my computer before I could get it inside. Now there's black/green stains behind my screen that make it hard to see. Also recently sometimes it has issues booting up. It'll try then shut off, then try and shut off, then eventually it turns on. Anyone got any advice?

Take battery out, put into a airy spot, and if lucky will dry out?

IDK, I washed my phone a while back and it dried out and started working again.

Good luck dude, got any insurance on it?

LOL it's not the battery that's the problem, that didn't get wet. I actually have an ugly feeling it's a HD problem and if that's the case I need a new computer. I do hope I can clean this crap out behind the screen, if not I need a new computer anyways.

Take it apart and see if you can dry it out. I am assuming that it is out of warranty. Either way, you can see what the cost is to replace the screen and hard drive. The issue with the hard drive is losing anything/everything that you have on it, unless of course you have backups.

BTW, you must have really got it wet because I have got my laptop wet many times and have never had issues.

Yeah the computer's gotten wet before, not sure why it caused stains behind the screen this time. TBH if the hard drive is shot it wouldn't really be worth it to repair it, I'd rather just get a new computer.

didn't your parents ever teach you that water and electricity don't mix? it is probably too late, but the reason you ytake out the batter is so that it can dry out properly without creating issues. Water and electricity (especially rain in a laptop) could cause shorts and or send power where it should not and damage stuff internally.

A new hard drive will be far less than a new laptop. How old is the laptop and if it really sucks, then maybe this was a blessing in disguise.

An added thought was to try the rice. I washing my iPod Nano. I put it in a plastic baggie with rice for two days. It powered right up. Prior to that it did nothing. I have not had any issues with it since.

I just meant that being powered up will lead to its demise.

That is true but the battery can short out the labtop and then you'll really be in trouble.

I recently got water all over my Blackberry Storm. The screen was all messed up. And my buttons were all backwards. Any number I pressed was always coming up 9. It was really bad. I yanked the battery and put it in rice...it works... I doubt you want to do that with your labtop but my phone is 100% now. Even the screen is back to normal. No visible water marks. Maybe leave it out in the sun to dry out.
