Default Marantz AV 8003 or SR 6003

Is there anyone here that have heard any sonic difference when using an SR 6003/5003 as a preamp compared to the AV 8003? I will be pairing it with a Rotel 1095 and B&W's CM' 9's, the receiver is 1k less than pre-amp and with just about the same features.Any thoughts or insight is appreciated!

Why not just get a Pre/Pro instead of a receiver if you know that it will be paired with the Rotel 1095. That would give you a 5.1 surround system. The Pre/Pro will have better performance and you will not get on the receiver replacement merry-go-round (replacing for the latest and greatest and paying for amps that you are not using) when you decide to replace it. The Pre/Pro will also offer greater flexibility for connections.

The Marantz AV8003 Networking AV Preamp/Processor has better performance than the Marantz SR6003 & SR5003 receivers. It has better parts and build. It's in a whole separate league than the Marantz receivers. They may look the same on the outside, but they're different under the hood. $1000 difference IDK?

I have the AV8003 and B&W CM9 speakers. You won't be disappointed with it. The Rotel power amp is one of the biggest bargains there is.

A big benefit of the AV8003 is that it has balanced connections. The receivers do not. You can connect the 1095 power amp w/ XLR connections. Enjoy!
