I was skeptical of Burton's remake at first, but after seeing this trailer, it actually looks pretty good.

A new film adaptation based on art from another medium is NOT a remake. A remake is when a movie is made based on a previous movie.

For example, Burton's Planet of the Apes was a remake. His Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was not.

Anyway, some of the visual stylings look good here, but others seem awkward. Hopefully it plays well in the full feature, and hopefully they don't abuse the 3D side of things. I don't want to see them throwing things at the audience for no reason.

If that's your definition of a remake, then the term still applies in my sentence of usage.

But I get what you're saying; my mistake. I meant to say "Burton's adaptation". Thanks for the clarification.

If that's the case then Planet of the Apes isn't a remake either, it was based on Pierre Boulle's novel La Plančte des Singes .
Anyway, I think the teaser looks good. It definitely has got Tim Burton's stamp all over it (that's not really a surprise) but after this I'm really getting interested in it.

I love what Tim Burton does and I like Johnny Depp and I love the story of Alice in Wonderland. But Alice is supposed to be a young 12 - 14 years old girl so this woman as Alice won't feel the same.

Yeah, I learned that it was also based on a book, but even so, the Burton adaptation cites the earlier movie as a base, does it not?

Either way, I was mistaken in my example. I just thought it appropriate given the thread is about Burton to bring up a movie he did that legitimately was a remake.

Yes I hands down agree, I hate watching animation films now in 2d as you can see where they have added something flinging out the screen pointlessly

Innit that Crispin Glover, though I did think Edward Scissorhands when I saw him (Knave of Hearts?)
