Default external hard drive

hey guys. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but can you use an external hard drive with a ps3? Would it plug into a usb slot? There is one at futureshop a 500 gig external harddrive for 69.99 That is an awesome price considering there is a 120 gig internal sony ps3 harddrive at wal-mart for 70.00

Thanks

You can use an external hard drive via usb port. I use one all the time. It's an easy way to back up your PS3 hd.

most of them come formatted fat32 already but if its ntfs or otherwise you'll have to make sure you format it to fat32 since the ps3 wont read it as ntfs

Does anyone know if you can store DLC onto an external hard drive? If so, will it integrate into the game like it usually does? My 40 GB is nearly full, and I was thinking about adding an external drive instead of replacing the internal one.

I decided to go ahead and get an internal. Seems like there's too much you can't do with an external.
