Talking Entire Beatles' catalogue getting remastered on CD and a strong chance of Blu-rays

http://www.shorefire.com/index.php?a...release&o=2872

The Beatles' Entire Original Recorded Catalogue Remastered By Apple Corps Ltd. And EMI Music For Worldwide CD Release On September 9, 2009.

While many people have been waiting for this news for years, I have even better news for Blu-ray fans. The press release does not mention Blu-ray at all, but I have learned from a person with insider connections to EMI (who knew of these remasters long before they were announced) that strongly believes the remastered albums will eventually show up on Blu-ray with high-resolution audio at 24 bit 192 kHz in stereo and extras. It might be a year or two for the Blu-rays though, as the Beatles wait for the BD market to grow bigger and let collectors pick up the cds first.

Edit: The release date of the CDs is 09.09.09

Not interested at all in re-mastered CD's, although it seems the '87 CD releases are generally regarded as totally crap compared to just about any needle drop, nevermind the Ebbett's drops, so I'm sure this is good news for those to whom CD is the only choice.

It would be a shame for them to wait a few years for the Blu-ray's, this is the type of thing that sells a product and they'd sell just as many releasing now as they would in two years unless the format goes away.

No mention in the press release of anything other than CD, no vinyl, DVD-A, EMI never supported SACD, no Blu-ray, but I woud definitely crap my pants if the Blu-ray releases come to fruition sooner rather than later.

The Beatles make every decision regarding their product as a cold business decision. To be honest, I agree with them that the Blu-ray market does not have the penetration yet to properly support these releases. It is why moviemakers like Lucas have not yet released Star Wars on Blu-ray. Do not be surprised to see deluxe Blu-ray editions down the line of each album.

i might get a couple of these releases. they look sweet. i'd pass on them if they come to blu-ray though. neil young's archives volume 1 is due out on blu-ray and i'm passing. it's too limiting a format. neil young doesn't plan to have high quality downloads of all the songs on the blu-ray so i could only play them at home, which is very crippling. i listen to music in my discman more often than not. this is one audiophile who will be sitting out on this new music format. just like i did the last two that failed. and the others before that.

I'm a child of the 60's who loves...LOVES....music of many kinds.Particularly music from the 60's.Rock,pop,folk...even some Sinatra and "easy listening" (my parents' music). If the Beatles catalog is released on blu ray and is is worthy of the format, quality wise,I'm all in up through Abbey Road.

As far as penetration is concerned I think that HD tv's have enough penetration now that release of the Beatles catalog...or Star Wars (for example) could, alone, cause a huge rush to blu ray players.

Just give me the entire catalog on MoFi OMR's and I'll be a happy camper.
