From what I've read the best versions to contain fragments of the original theatrical subs would be on the HK and Korean blu-rays, but I have not read anything about the Japanese release. Are the English subtitles as simplified as the UK and US releases or similar to the HK and Korean subs.

I have the HK version. It unfortunately does not exhibit any of the theatrical subs. Supposedly the Korean version does, but the poster at AVS never clarified beyond the fact that the ending scene maintained some of the theatrical translation.

As for the Japanese version, I have a feeling it shares the same translation as the other versions. The Japanese DVDs never had the theatrical translation afaik, so I doubt the BR would.

Hopefully someone with the Japanese version will at some point be able to verify what translation is used.
