Exclamation Anyone using an older DVI input tv-

OK so I started doing some research into a new reciever, namely the 1019 Pioneer or the Elite 03. So here's the thing, I read about a guy who bought an Elite 03 and when he set it up he wasn't getting any video to his TV via the hdmi cables...long story short, after calling Pioneer and some trial and error he was informed that because his tv is older and uses a DVI input rather than a hdmi input, the intermediary device (in this case his reciever), between the source, be it a BD player or his HD Sat box, interfered somehow and prevented the video from making it to his tv. This concerns me obviously as I too currently have an older TV that only has a DVI input. As I'm sure you can understand I don't want to spend $600 on a new reciever only to discover that I wouldn't be able to use it until I upgrade my TV down the road. Has anyone else ever heard of this happening before? Is it only with the Pioneer Elite stuff or is with any hdmi reciever through a DVI input via hdmi cables with an adaptor?

My reciever is an Yamaha 6130, and the cable I use is dvi on one end and hdmi on the other. I have my cable box and ps3 going into the receiver and one cable coming out. I have never had any issues with video not being passed through.

I have a Yammy 6060 receiver and a Hitachi 46F10 w/DVI. I have had no problems running my PS3 or A2 HD-DVD player thru the receiver to my Hitachi with a HDMI /DVI Cable.

i have a gateway FPD2485W monitor that i have my 2 pc's, my HD-DVR cable box and an insignia blu-ray player connected. everything is connected via DVI except the blu-ray player because there is an HDCP issue with the player and the monitor so i have to use component cables to get 1080i. i brought my ps3 down to the basement and connected it via HDMI-DVI cable and it worked just fine at 1080p which for HD is the highest it will go with 1920 x 1200 resolution so for me, it's my cheap secondary blu player that's the problem. other than that it works fine for everything else using DVI!

Default can anyone use a bd player?

Has anyone succesfully ran a blu ray player via hdmi/dvi to their tv through a reciever then? I don't own a hd dvd or a ps3 player so I suppose the ability to run my sony bd player is my primary concern upon investing in a new reciever prior to a new tv now.

DVI and hdmi are similar signals for video although the physical shape is different. There shouldn't be any issue.
