Unhappy No LFE from Gladiator DTS-HD !

Hi all

This weekend I received my Gladiator Blu-ray but when I try it on my PS3 I have no Bass at all! I watched the LFE level on my Sony DA3300ES Receiver and there is no activity, even when all hell breaks loose on the opening scene.

Voice and other effects sounds ok, just no bass whatsoever.

If I use the PS3 remote to switch from Bitstream to PCM I get bass back, but it does not sound right and the overall volume drops and seperation is less.

I'm using the DTS-HD sound track on the disk. All my other disks are True-HD and they work great.

I'm thinking of ripping the movie and downconverting to regular DTS. Or dust off my DVD heaven forbid!!

Any help appreciated!

Which PS3 do you have? Slim or regular? Also what speakers and subwoofer do you have?

The original (non-slim) PS3'S cannot bitstream DTS HD MA. They just can't do it. - you will need to let the PS3 send the audio as PCM.

Thx for your reply - I have the original PS3.

I have a Yamaha 300 sub (getting on in age, but still strong). Polk Audio RTi8's front.

You PS3 will not bitstream and will only send a 2.0 signal. That is why you are only getting LFE with the PCM setting. Keep it on PCM and enjoy the HD audio.
