Default screen material

I thought I looked for this while researching DIY solutions, but didn't find it.

Here is a good way to get a good quality screen cheaply, if you can do some basic framing.

http://www.av-outlet.com/en-us/dept_431.html

They also sell "Supported" which doesn't require stretching etc.

Does anyone know if a tilted cut on screen material is a good idea or would a non-tilted cut be preferred? I ask because I plan on building a scope screen and the place I plan on ordering my material from might be discontinuing their 2.35 screen material and recommended I go with the larger width material and maybe get a tilted cut for my material size.

If the scope screen material is preferred then I want to make sure I get it before it is discontinued. Also, it is cheaper than the one he recommended. Thanks in advance for the comments.

I can only speak to AT material and for that I have always read tilted is preferred for weaved material to help reduce moire, if the material you are using is not an AT weaved material I can't think of a reason to tilt... I'll leave it to more epxerienced people to say otherwise.

I actually ordered the material on Friday if he had enough he indicated it would actually be the non-tilted Scope material (Seymour XD). I tried to ask a lot of questions and just told him if he didn't have enough I'll take the tilted but he reasured me that he should have enough to fill my order.

Thanks for the reply.

Did you order directly from Seymour? Interesting to hear they are discountinuing their xd material if that is case. I personally went with the Phiffer Shearweave when I built my screen and have always been happy with the performance without tilting it, I'm not running a 1080p projector however and that apparently is when people were indicating you may see moire if didn't tilt. Regardless, I think you should be happy with their product, I always read positive things about them over on avs.
