Default Do you keep a regular Blu when you get the Steelbook?

here is a question. If you already owned a regular blu of say " The Dark Knight " and you bought the Steelbook, do you keep your regular blu too or do you sell it? I am in a dilemma. I bought a bunch of Steelbooks of blu's i already owned and can't decide whether or not to keep the regular ones too or sell em and make a little bit of money. Figured i'd see what opinions you guys have.

I use to, but I am stopping and opening up all my SteelBooks unless they are region locked. I was doing it since I already had a lot of Amarays that I was buying on SteelBook, but it is getting expensive and have to cut corners. Amarays are going away. What got me thinking was the posts about when any format dies these "limited edition" things won't be worth jack when the next big format comes out. Might as well watch the movies I buy and not just collect cases.

I keep my steelbooks sealed so I need one of each.
Only if I like the movie of course.

I open them as well, but there are a few that I have that are sealed that I have not opened yet, like the FS Iron Man. I'll be opening it eventually. I picked up a few Disney's recently that I already had the amaray of, and I opened up the Steelies as soon as I got them to check them out. I'll be trading the amaray's and keeping the steel. For those that are region locked, I wait for the Region A release to get cheap enough, then I pick it up and add the Region A disc to the SteelBook. I just picked up the Righteous Kill Blu-ray Region A release, and I'll be adding the disc and artwork from the amaray to the SteelBook. I want to trim the artwork from he amaray to add as inserts. I can't remember if the Righteous Kill SteelBook has a digital copy or not, but if it does, I'll just get rid of the digital copy disc to make room for the Region A one. If it doesn't, then I want to add an extra hub to the SteelBook to make it a 2-disc case. I have thought of giving away the Region B discs that are locked, but I figure they might as well stay with the case since that is what the SteelBook came with.

Usually, I don't keep an amaray version, or rather, I don't buy one from the start, knowing that a Steelbook version exists. In some cases, I keep both, if I really really like the movie and the artwork is too good to not keep. Only three cases come to mind: Iron Man, The Dark Knight and Watchmen. Funny thing is, I have both Amaray/Steelbook open for Watchmen and the amaray sealed and Steelbook opened for The Dark Knight! That's a first I'd bet hah!

This is the most reasonable thing I've read in a long time and I completely agree with all of it.

hasn't happened to me yet, I usually wait as long as possible to get the SB and if it's way too expensive, then I just settle with the regular blu

I sell the regular copy to recover some of the money spent on the steelbook.
I sold my regular Dark Knight when I bought the steelbook.
I also sold all my three Pirates movies when I got the steelbooks.
What else, on yeah I sold Sleeping Beauty and have Pinocchio for sale or trade, no bites on that one yet.

This is an easy one

I collect steelbooks and I watch amarays. I will get the steelbook right away at release time, and unless the movie is stellar, I wait for a bargin on the amaray, or I just rent it.

Cheers
CrashKelly

I'm like most here: the amray is my viewing copy. The steelie is the collectible version which usually does not get opened (but there have been a couple of exceptions).
