A Perfect Getaway Blu-ray
A Perfect Getaway Blu-ray Review

Quote:
Cliff and Cydney are an adventurous young couple celebrating their honeymoon by backpacking to one of the most beautiful, and remote, beaches in Hawaii. Hiking the wild, secluded trails, they believe they've found paradise. But when the pair comes across a group of frightened hikers discussing the horrifying murder of another newlywed couple on the islands, they begin to question whether they should turn back. Unsure whether to stay or flee, Cliff and Cydney join up with two other couples, and things begin to go terrifyingly wrong. Far from civilization or rescue, everyone begins to look like a threat and nobody knows whom to trust. Paradise becomes hell on earth as a brutal battle for survival begins...

I thought it wasnt half bad in theaters. Kinda wanna buy the blu when it drops it price because I am sure it will look awesome. The Directors Cut hopefully will have some more added.

The Director's Cut claims 10 mins more than the Theatrical Version. However, having seen this in the theater and now the DC at home, I would be hard pressed to list any differences. It seems odd that 10 mins of footage would be subtle at best, but that's how it seemed to me. Additional scenic shots here and there, I guess.

I would definately recommend a rental on this first. The first half of the movie is fairly solid, until they completely blow it up at the end. Really enjoyed the first half of the movie, until the twist came.

I've had this in my collection for weeks and still haven't watched it. Going to try and watch it tonight. The cast is pretty great, and it was $5. Hope it's good!

I really need to buy this Blu-ray. I saw A Perfect Getaway in theaters, and I loved it so much that I owned the DVD. It's a really solid contemporary mystery/neo-noir, and it's surprisingly intense.

Well, it only took nine years. I saw this languishing on a used movie store shelf recently and decided to buy it at last. If a 4K is announced next week, then you are all welcome.

A couple, played by Milla Jovovich and Steve Zahn, embark on a rugged trail excursion on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, in hopes that they will have the honeymoon of their dreams. Unfortunately for them, this will not be the honeymoon of their dreams. When they discover that police are searching for two killers on the island, they grow increasingly suspicious of their new unexpected travel companions, another couple played by Timothy Olyphant and Kiele Sanchez.

The tense 2009 thriller, A Perfect Getaway, written and directed by David Twohy, was a favorite of mine when I saw it in theaters upon its release, mostly because of the charisma of its two leads and because of the way that the story takes some wild turns. The amazing photography of the Kauai north shore and of the Kalalau Trail add considerably to the appeal, although I resolve to be careful not to make any new friends if I myself ever decide to travel there.

Upon revisiting this movie for the first time in roughly 15 years, I chuckled upon realizing that one particularly intimidating character is played by none other than Chris Hemsworth, a couple of years before his breakthrough role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Be on the lookout for a fun role from Marley Shelton as well.

I have always loved one particular revelatory moment late in A Perfect Getaway. If you have seen the film, then you know exactly which scene to which I am referring.

This Blu-ray still looks splendid. lol at the Universal extras that want me to connect to the internet.

A Perfect Getaway was the first or second movie (the other being Dafoe's The Hunter) that I watched upon finally getting an HD set-up.

I agree that it's a lot of fun, and the lush Hawaii scenery is absolutely breathtaking. It's a terrific "summer" flick, we'll see if I can hold out that long to revisit it.
