I read that article and I like the idea. It benefits both parties because in the long run, there will be more available for streaming, hopefully in HD.

I like the idea that more will become available for streaming, but I'm not crazy about them holding out on sending out new releases for an additional 28 days. It won't be spurring me to buy anything I wouldn't have already been going to buy. I don't blind buy movies.

Netflix is screwing themselves with this move.

That gives places like Blockbuster an advantage... I know *I* really don't like to wait 28 days for a new rental, so why would I wait for 28 days plus the day or two that it would take to get to my house?

So long Netflix, it's been nice knowing you.

Well their blurays are already long wait times as is it, hence why I cancelled my subscription a while back ago. I might get the basic one dvd just to get streaming on my ps3 though now.

Streaming on the PS3 is worth the $9 a month. I canceled my HBO and Cinemax cause of it.

Soon enough ALL the studios will come to "agreements" with ALL rental outfits. Nuthin like being FORCED to come to an agreement. Netflix aint liking this one bit.

Yea I would think it would be with all of the rental companies not just Netflix.

I don't think they will be.

Awhile back, most of the major studios signed deals with major rental houses {I know of at least Blockbuster and Rogers up here, not sure if there was more than one Stateside} which stipulated that whenever the rental place rents out a movie, the studio gets a portion of the rental, in return the studio charges less for the rights to renting out the movie {per disk}

From what I know of the Blockbuster agreement, it also includes when they pull it off the shelf and sell it previously viewed.

I think they'll be leaving Blockbuster alone on this one...
