Default Paper backs on steelbooks

Question for those of you who open your steelbooks. Do you guys leave the paper back or do you take it off? Does this affect the the value of a used steelbook?

I took off the paperback on some of my earlier steels but have left them on some of my more recent purchases. But I hate leaving them on!

You should eventually keep them stored somewhere just in case.

If you were you I would never get rid of the extra booklets and goodies like that (cf. The Sweeney Todd play.com exclusive)

I try to put them inside the Steelbook case, but most of the times they don't fit that well so I have to fold them. I don't think they will go down in value if you remove them. That would mean you've already removed the seal first and that alone is the biggest downgrade in value.

I will trim the paperback to fit inside the case most of the time. If I'm opening it, I'm not too concerned about whether or not it affects the value. If there is a sticker on the shrinkwrap that is relevant to the actual SteelBook release or the movie release, then I'll take off the sticker and find a spot for it inside the case. If it's simply a "Plays on PS3," price sticker, or coupon, I'll throw those away. For all the Disney releases that came out recently, I cut off the fold over part and trimmed them to fit inside like an insert. Most people that would be interested in a mint open SteelBook are not going to give the paperback too much thought; you are confusing those Collector's with the "Keep 'em sealed" crowd.

Man and I thought I was the only one that does that. I open some of my SteelBooks and I put the stickers back on the poly sleeve and it looks like the SteelBook is still brand new.

I leave SteelBooks inside plastic bags so the paperback and whatnot are all pressed against the SteelBook, like when it's sealed.

I do the exact same thing. I personally think it does affect value, since I personally wouldn't buy a SteelBook without the original paperback or I would just offer less money for that SteelBook.

That's exactly what I did with my earlier ones like the Dark Knight and Indiana Jones. I took off the paper back, folded it, and put it in the steelbook.

I open my steels and watch them...but I do like the idea of keeping them in a plastic bag. I have access to a shrinkwrapping machine so I may just separate the discs from my steels and reshrink the steels to keep them pristine.

I keep mine-but not for resale reasons-only to keep them complete, as purchased them. I do open my Steels and am currently considering ways to protect them (thanks everyone, for posting info on bags, etc).

Like Mr. B, I trim mine so that I can put them inside the Steelbooks along with the Booklet or Inlay. I think it looks pretty catchy when you open em up

I did that for the first few steels I bought but now I decided not to trim them anymore, not sure if the paper effects the value that much?

I chuck them, because honestly they have no value what-so-ever. When someone is interested in a Steelbook, its the physical Steelbook they are after, not the paperwork ... not the disc.

If your worried about its value, honestly, keep them sealed. Otherwise, don't worry about it. Chuck the crappy piece of paper and enjoy the Steelbook in all its splendor.

Since i have little display stands for the steels, I simply put the steel in the bag then place the paper back behind the steel.
This was incredibly handy when I needed to submit all those UPCs for the Disney reward points.

At first i usta put them into a shoe box, or put them into the polysleeve with the SteelBook, but lately i have been tossing them into the recycle bin. I think my Star Trek, District 9, IB etc were all tossed into the recycle bin cause i have no more polysleeves and my shoe box is full. I think i have 30 or so in polys
