I haven't seen either version but it sounds fun if it has Locke.

This is very good news. I havnt seen the new one but the original is awesome. I hope they release parts 2 & 3 as well. Got Em!!

I want to watch this one first. Then watch the remake. But honestly the original seems like it would be superior and I like that it has sequels that continue the story.

I saw the remake in theaters, and i have to say its a rental at best. It was pretty boring till the last 15 mins and some of the acting sucked.

Yea man that was a cool lil trilogy. I enjoyed them all. But we have to start somewhere so Im happy about the OG release for part 1! Day 1 buy for me. Got Em!!

Interesting, ill have to check this out. I didnt realize the new one that just came to BD was a remake. The main character of the new one is a pretty bad actor IMO, and the new one was just ok and corny.. but that girl in the movie is smoking hot!!

Most movies released these days are remakes. Such as The Crazies coming out this friday in theaters.

Jill Schoelen, one of my favorite scream queens. Of all her movies, I'm glad they put this on BD first and not Cutting Class or Popcorn.

Though I wouldn't mind that version of Phantom of the Opera where she played Christine and Robert Englund played the Phantom on BD too.

Aside from Sela Ward and Dylan Walsh it was a total mess and a missed opportunity -- though both were excellently cast and with a better script would have been much better. Changing the protagonist to a male (ex-military school brat didn't help either) completely changed the dynamic of the film and IMHO hurt it greatly. It felt more like a rip-off of Disturbia than a remake of the original film. The script is unrealistic as can be -- and nobody but Ward/Walsh can act to save his/her life... no pun intended. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was acceptable for a mindless thriller and it could have been a lot worse but it's unfortunate that they didn't aim higher (seriously, the director of PROM NIGHT (2008) ????!!!

On the plus side they resisted the urge to completely explain The Stepfather and I still can't believe they managed to make this movie without 10-15 minutes of "flashbacks" showing us incredibly dumbed down psych 101 explaining why he was crazy (Rob Zombie, take note) seeing as that's all the rage in the horror industry these days. Points for going more mysterious with the character but having a completely unlikeable protagonist who goes through little to no character development hurt the film tremendously.

I keep checking and checking and checking, but this price just will not drop. I'm hoping it will sometime in October, however I doubt it.

I finally broke down and got my copy from Amazon a couple of days ago. I've been collecting blu-ray for about a year now and I don't think it's ever dropped below $18.99 over at Amazon.
