I am now using Movie Mode instead of Dynamic Mode (Torch Mode) as recommended below.
Samsung Led 8000 Series The Settings I am using are here http://www.tweaktv.com/tweak-my-tv/c...un55b8000.html My model number is Samsung Led UNB55B8000XFXZA there is a page for my exact model but there are no settings for it but isn’t the Samsung UN55B8000 the same TV? I have a couple of questions below and the user SellmeyourDVD was right what a difference from Dynamic Mode I am now using the correct mode Movie Mode what a difference did I shorten the life span of my TV by using dynamic the longest I have used it was to watch the Super Bowl. Samsung Led 8000 Series TV Settings Picture Modes Picture Mode: Movie Color Temperature:Warm2 Aspect Ratio:16:9 Picture Settings Backlight:4 Contrast:90 Brightness:46 Sharpness:0 Color:47 Tint:G46/ R54 Advanced Settings Black Tone:Off Dynamic Contrast:Off Gamma:-1 Color Space :Auto White Balance:Factory Default Flesh Tone:0 Edge Enhancement:Off Picture Options Color Tone:Warm2 Size:16:9 Digital NR:Off Auto Motion Plus:Off Blur Reduction:8 Judder Reduction:0 Misc.Settings Game Mode:Off Energy Saving Mode:Off Questions . Question 1: Is Color Temperature And Color Tone the same setting ,I only see a color tone setting? Question 2: The only setting that’s not selectable now is Film Mode the settings above recommend to set Film Mode to Auto 1 but it’s Off and not selectable how do I change this setting? Plus, you are putting a TON of wear and tear on your tv by doing that, but to each his own. |

Nice TV! Looks like you discovered what I was about to recommend. Dynamic / Vivid setting is something you'll want to stay away from for the reasons that SellMeYourDVD listed. Plus the picture itself won't be as impressive as it can be, because those settings tend to crush blacks and over enhance the image. It's one thing to have the image "pop", but you'll find a natural image to be much more pleasing. You can always increase the backlight setting if you want to give it a bit more "pop" without destroying the image.

Just like what progers said, you need a HD cable box OR an OTA antennae, which would be connected via a co ax cable to the OTA tuner on your tv. I didn't know what you meant by "blotchy" because I haven't had cable TV for almost two years ![]() If you want an OTA antennae, I'd suggest this http://www.amazon.com/Terk-Amplified...7821031&sr=8-1 I use it when I do watch TV (football... and that's it). It picks up all my local stations plus a few others that are in HD. |

I have a 6000 series which is pretty much the same and i watch it in standard... alot of people like movie though which is just too dark for my taste. I'm all for realism on the picture but I need some kinda "pop"...movie just seems to drain all the color out in my opinion.

I just got a 700 series and i hooked up my PS3 to it, and on this tv it seems the movement can't keep up with the audio. Seems as its in slow motion. But when i watch regular tv it looks fine. I didnt have this problem with my other tv, anyway i can change this?

Most people avoid movies that have been DNRed for these reasons. The bigger the screen, the more noticeable it is (makes human actors look like wax figures without all the fine details we've come to expect from blu-ray). But, again, it really is up to your preference. Most people recommend to turn off all processing because of striving for the most accurate / realistic picture. And quite frankly, most blus look fine the way they are. Those that don't tend to be the result of a bad transfer, and adjusting your set really won't help much; all it will do is throw your calibration out of whack. For an example of a poorly utilized DNR movie, read the video quality review on Superman Returns HERE. Another example is History of Violence HERE. Generally speaking, DNR and EE = bad. |
