Arrow Why are shows like NCIS / CSI or law and order not in blu ray??

There is lots of blu ray movies out but not shows like NCIS , CSI or law and order ,stargate SG1 , SGA .

TV shows like x-files ,outer-limits ,bones or numbr3s . Lots of movies but little to no TV shows in blu ray. WHY ?

two seasons of CSI have hit, 1 and 9. Reason being, TV on blu ray is not catching on nearly as quick. You can buy a tv series on sale for 15 bucks whereas CSI season 9 set me back like 50. They just weren't selling well so they are not getting much attention. I want to see NCIS too, and more seasons of CSI, two of my fav shows, but alas, it will be a long way off.

TV shows on DVD didn't catch on right away in DVD's life cycle either. On top of that, a lot of those shows (although popular) have been available on DVD for some time now. Upgrading my DVDs to blu for $10 ~ $15 each isn't a big deal to me. But for others, upgrading TV on DVD sets to blu (if available) for around $50 is a much harder sell. It is in this sense that these shows' popularity works against the blu format, because a lot of people already own DVD copies. Take 24, for example. I have seasons 1 ~ 6 on DVD, but I bought season 7 on blu. Upgrading the older seasons would be further down my priority list, but if I buy something new (like season 7) I definitely get it on blu.

I think we'll start to see some of these shows on blu, hopefully as soon as this summer (once the current seasons end), but it may only be the current season. Catalog sets could be a while down the road.

i would love to pick up shows on blu. But I am not going to pick up shows that are starting in the middle to quick. The abandon Rescue me and Prison Break and have started many right in the middle like Greys, 24 etc. I want to know about when the rest of the season (preferably season 1) of them are getting released to know they are more commuted to the show than to have have 1 or 2 season here and there on blu. Hell i will netflix the DVDs and rip to mp4 otherwise and put on external hard drives.

Also, some shows were never 'finished' for anything better than NTSC standard broadcast. If the effects for shows were only finished in SD (like the Highlander series that turned out so bad), they would have to be redone in HD if the rest of the episode was being re-mastered as well.
Can some one explain this better.

.
they only have seasons 1,3,final break for prison break and i doubt you see the rest. You can import the others though if you want

Rescue me is only season 3

Greys starts at 4,5 but no 1-3 and they have had plenty of time to start

24 i can sorta agree with, this should be the last season so releasing the complete 8 season set in a year or so isnt a bad thing to hope for. we will see

but you get the point. i dont want to have some seasons on blu and have to do DVD for others.

This is a big pain in the ass for me. I hate how companies release some seasons on Blu but not others, it makes me REAL hesitant when it comes to purchasing a series on Blu as I don't watch T.V. so this is where I get my programs from and I won't buy the missing seasons on DVD since the Blu version may come out one day so it would be a waste for me to do so.

I think this is a reason why a lot of people might be slow to buying a series on Blu, because you never know what you are going to get.

Shows that were not mastered in HD originally (since they were intended for SD broadcast) could be very expensive to remaster in HD. Since old TV seasons are not going to fly off the shelves, this makes it unlikely you'll see them on blu-ray until it is financially feasible to release them.

What you mean is if they where mastered on tape than film .If they where mastered on 35 mm film than tape.

For shows that are popular right now, you'll see the current season come out in blu-ray. Only the really big ones will get previous seasons on blu. In the case of the x-files, they went widescreen in season five to begin with. And it is my understanding it was not broadcast in hd except in the last season or two. It would be a big investment to go full HD, and unless they see a possibility for profit that probably won't happen. Even a really popular show like The Office has only seen one season in HD so far (of course due in part to Universal's HDDVD douchebaggery).

Also, some shows were never 'finished' for anything better than NTSC standard broadcast. If the effects for shows were only finished in SD (like the Highlander series that turned out so bad), they would have to be redone in HD if the rest of the episode was being re-mastered as well.

So what do you consider to be "really big ones"? Do you think 24, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and the CSIs will get BD releases of the early seasons or just the new ones?

I am starting to think we got at least another year or two before TV on Blu ray starts to catch on, so far I have only bought 1 single season of anything on Blu Ray and only because it went on sale for a really good discount. That was Bones Season 4, which is also the only season on Blu Ray even though the show has been filmed and broadcast in HD since day 1.

I'm hoping we see a big influx of TV on blu-ray soon. I would like to see a lot more of current shows and I would love it if they put the rest of the seasons of The Simpsons, South Park, Futurama, King of the Hill and Family Guy on blu

Same here. If seasons 1-5 were available I would purchase them.

TV audience and DVD are more profitable.

I'd watch these series on TV, but wouldn't buy them.
